Maria continues trying to wreck things. She manages to slice apart a pipe, which only fills the room with more steam.

She finds a scroll. Brief read, already seen it, rips it apart! Sadly, the thing continues to pump out steam.
Finally, she finds some sort of revolver, plated in gold. She smashes it on the floor, causing it to crack and shatter.

The sounds die down, and the engine finally begins to burn out as well, as the room slowly starts to clear of steam. Those outside can hear the steps of the machine slowing down.

"Looking into xenocide, are we?"

[OREOSOME]

Well... Now that the steam is stopping, we wait for Maria to come back, I suppose.

[Vorthon]

"Trying to keep the bloodshed to a minimum, eh?

You call murder over jealousy at worst 'keeping the bloodshed to a minimum'?!"

The Cataphract finally stops, and Maria is starting to have semi-decent visibility. She is also rather angry. Not that the firstborn is supposed to care.

[Vorthon]

I am a̡s ą ͠g͡o̧d.̸ ͡M̧y whi͏ms̛ ͡are̴ not ̀to b̢e que̡s̴tion̕ed.

[Twi]

"I won't question them, then. But I shall tell you about where this ship I stand on came from.

The man who built it thought he would be like a god, too.

But I saw it explode and spread flaming wreckage across the sands. This 'ship' is merely a pale shadow of what that mighty Cataphract could have been.

And that man? He died along with it."

Jaime, having gotten bored waiting for Maria, inspects the various bits of broken armor. She soon finds what she's looking for, one of the armor's swords.
She quickly picks it up and slips it into a strap on her bandolier.

[Vorthon]

"I won't question them, then. But I shall tell you about where this ship I stand on came from.

"Irrelevant. It is about perspective."

Maria heads out of what's left of the steam, which is enough to be warm but certainly not dangerous, and rejoins the group.

"It's gone. But one of those Firstborn things wants the cats dead."

She smirks.

"Camille, can you fix the engine and see if the cannons are in working order?"

^{"Er, sure."}

She rushes off into the engine room and gets to work.

[OREOSOME]

One of those firstborn things? Bryan's not gonna like hearing about one being here. And I can't blame him. Damn things remind me of those goddamn hybrids..

[SomeStupidGuy]

"Really? Did it say why it wanted the cats dead? I mean, Kwyk I kinda get. But Bryan's fairly benign."

[Twi]

"Because one of its rivals made them, apparently."

Camille is fixing up the hole in the pipe, in addition to finding some fuel reserves for the steam engine. Luckily, she finds them in ample supply.

[SomeStupidGuy]

"That could be a problem later on.."

[Cassandra]

She stirs, and stands up. She seems to be awake, now.
