Bryan Ashcraft was fleeing, his ship hurtling across the void. His pursuers racing after him, separated by thousands of kilometers. The nearest Jump Point was on the other side of the system, and that meant passing through the heavily fortified inner system. And besides, his ship was much to small to support a Drive. He had consigned himself to an interstellar STL trajectory, throttling the acceleration on his pitiful singleship to maximum, fervently hoping he'd reach relativistic speeds before running out of reaction mass. He hurtled past a small gas giant, slingshotting around it to boost his speed. A sudden lurching sensation, and he found himself staring at a strange planet, or at least some kind of world, with his ship hurtling towards with terrifying alacrity.

"Oh fuck no. Why me?"

He fumbled for the eject button, slamming his hand down on it. He felt another lurching sensation, as the command module of his ship detached and began firing retrorockets. He watched with dismay as the rest of his ship hurtled towards its doom.

"Why do I have feeling things are only going to get worse?

He landed a short distance away from a small group of people, and hopped out, approaching them cautiously.
