He dashes after Richard. "You have any clue what that is? Seems like your area of expertise."

"No, that is not a Shadow attack. Those are just shadows and..."

Marielusion is consumed by the shadow wall.

[Twi]

Being a mere projection, Marielusion explores the shadow. Not that it seems likely for there to be much that can see her.


Meanwhile, Maria scowls as she runs.

"I always used the phrase 'waves of darkness' figuratively... "

James sighs, lagging behind a little while doing so. "Figured as much."

[IamanElfCollaborator]

The shadow wall seems to be actively draining Marielusion's power and will, trying to will her out of existence.

[Twi]

Marielusion cringes at the pull on her strength and vanishes in order to reappear safely out of (preferably a good distance above) the shadow.

Meanwhile:

"Thank you kindly, Phyliss!~"

The wall of shadows seems to extend infinitely in all directions except in the direction of the hive.

[Twi]

Marielusion keeps pace with the wall, then, staying a good strong distance away from it.

"_{...ey, Phyliss? Where are those embers?}"

Five pale blue, ghostly flames appear, orbiting around Marielusion.They seem to be giggling like children.

"Ah, there we go, finally some real firepower! Now then, I've got a job to do."

Firepower in tow, Marielusion starts looking for either a) the crows or b) the speaker from before.

The crows and the speaker seem to have disappeared, and the shadow is still whitlling at Marielusion.

[Twi]

Marie gives herself more room between her and the wall and does her best to continue searching.

"Actually, this wall is TERRIBLY in the way, and I may as well try.... Come on, Embers. Burn away the darkness!"

The ghost fires proceed to spray less intelligent fire at the wall with disturbing enthusiasm and childlike cries of "Burn it all!" and "Look at it glow!" and other such things. And lots of giggles.

The fires are slowly being snuffed out. The darkness seems to be unrelenting and impenetrably black.

[Twi]

"Why won't it burn?" "What is this?"

"Okay, nevermind. This requires a different approach. Time for you to go home, little ones~"

The embers return to wherever they came from, and Marie falls way back, back, baaaaack, awaaaaaaaaaaay from the wall, scaling it baaaaaaaaaaaack.

Allie wakes up.
"Pizza..."

The shadow stops at the edge of the forest.

That part of the forest, at least, is now impassible.

"Damn."

Marielusion stops above Richard and co.

"Oh that was not cool, not cool at all! And now Phyliss is gonna be mad since I didn't take care of the crows!"


"That was rather unpleasant."
