One Shadow just snaps and punches Marie with a large fist.

Ixion zaps the weak one at the same time James slashes it, killing it.

The four remaining are weakened by Thera's attacks, and one is killed by Thera's gusts.

James continues firing his rifle, this time trying to hit several shadows with a single extended blast.

[Twi]

The Shadow that punched Marie quickly finds itself surrounded by a mass of blackness and wails like banshees, effectively rendering it both blind and deaf. This is of course because Marie is quite unhappy at being punched even if it simply goes through her.



Maria, meanwhile...Well, you know the drill by now. Blow them away!

The Shadow collapses, before....coming back up, stronger.

Fairly hard to take down an embodiment of negative human emotion with fear.

[Twi]

"...ALL I WANTED WAS TO BLIND IT. Oh, brother, why do you hate me so?!?"

Marie pouts at the Shadow and starts floating above them and being irritating like Navi instead.

Thera keeps sending out those gusts. They're not very draining as attacks go.

....and then something happens.

All remaining Shadows are pulverized by an unseen force.

"The hell?"

[Twi]

"Great job, you all probably managed to summon a bigger fish!"

Marie hops over to Richard and pokes him.

Maria just blinks.

"Er... what does that mean?"

"It means run away."

Maria puts her hand on her blade, while Thera growls anxiously.

[SomeStupidGuy]

"Odd."
He waves away some steam emanating from his gun, then aims around the area cautiously.

[IamanElfCollaborator]

"Humans?!"
A stomping sound, followed by the sounds of crows cawing can be heard around everyone.

"Oh this isn't good."

[SomeStupidGuy]

"This bodes well."

[Twi]

"Quick, Maria, make a distraction! I command your giant dragon thing to do that in the name of my name differing from yours by one vowel! And big guy, only half of us are human, you know!"

"What's with you?"

Maria frowns, backing away from the stomping.

[IamanElfCollaborator]

"Fools! Leave the forest! There are things far worse than the Shadows here! Flee!"

A monstrous crow's cawing, followed by a roar, is heard, and then more stomping and screeching.

[Twi]

"And what about you, crow-thing? ...Wait, crow?"

Marie gets an idea. Cue evil grin and a repressed evil laugh, pretty much a brief giggle.

Meanwhile, far away:

"Hey guys, where's Phyliss? I need her for a bit."

" Out and about. I'll go get her..."

There is now silence, as the sounds of the fighting fade away.

Followed by the forest being rapidly consumed by a wave of black, impenetrable shadow.

"Crap."

Richard starts running.

[Twi]

"Oh, Christ!"

Maria runs at full speed, dismissing Thera, while Marie just floats around, since she doesn't actually have a body to harm or anything.
