Luca and Cath decide to answer Maria's Call to aid, just to get away from the 'Uplifting' procedure. Too many bad experiences with the word. The veil's effects wear off just as he gets to her.

And then, of course, she resumes the expected 'swing axe at Kwyk' procedure.
