Nope, any prediction of this kind is pure bunk. Development of DF will cease either because Toady will finally start taking certain programming concepts seriously and begin Chapter III (DF is Chapter II and I think it is way too late to apply those "certain concepts" to it) or because Toady died for whatever reason. DF is work of his life - development never will end as long as Toady live.

I predict also one additional thing: after death of Toady, if source is released, there will be short spur of development that will end in same way as any open-source game - dying off. Open source and games does not mix, sadly.

Even if DF reaches 1.0 at some point, it will still keep going. 1.0 is not the death of development.

Toady should start a company that makes one core processors to run the game awesomely and use it to fund his dairf fairtress development
