So, the hurricane passed by Vermont yesterday, and like usual, it was disappointing, to say the least. We got 3 inches of rain, at the most, in Concord. I can only hope it will pass by again, closer this time. I want snow, damn it.

EDIT: And like, 2 seconds after I posted that, it started pouring.

OK, so maybe I was talking shit about this hypercane in the WTF thread, but it seems to be some kind of historical, biblical, one-off natural disaster in the making.

I feel a little disappointed that up here in Michigan the only thing I'm getting is a bit of snow rain and some ominous, chilly winds. I won't say anything else in case I wind up having to eat my words later.

Yeah, the damage is pretty staggering. No one has really brought this up, but I think the various meteorologists deserve a round of applause. If this had somehow fallen apart before getting here, everyone would have said, "Oh they always say it's going to be bad, they don't have a fucking clue."

But when they get it right, no one thinks to say "Damn...nice job, guys."

More like Jul/Aug. Also, how many of those babies are going to be named Sandy?  :P

Effects really being felt into the Ohio Valley today. Bureau is closing up shop in most of West Virginia, and pretty much all the stuff that was shut down yesterday (DC to Boston) is still down today. Fed gov't is still closed today in DC.

I imagine Sandy will be retired off the hurricane name lists after all this.
