If we start over and make a new fortress, I vote to try to settle at more tropical coordinates :) that should make smithing easier.

Of course we'll need a "noob outpost" at wherever we start at first.

Aw well at least it would give us new features. I just finished a mini-charpit near the Doompit because nothing was getting done with that.

It would be nice if we could have admins do seasonal invasions into the fort and trading.

Does anyone have a screenshot of Armok's Throne? Never seen it.

I think when we start, that Nate needs to manually move the spawn to a more tropical location.

I just finished a mini-charpit near the Doompit because nothing was getting done with that.
We actually made a 9*9*4 charcoal pit next to the doompit then filled and burned it. Afterwards I built a bloomery/forge on top (the pit is still accessible as a basement). I'm quite proud of the ridiculous density of chests and the forge's bellows system.

I just have to wonder why you'd make your own Bay12 TFC server.  We already know that we're prone to fragmenting.  Why you gotta be 'that guy'?

If anyone could suggest a good system for making use of Gems as a method of Trading I would do so. Nate is kinda against the Idea of Spawning Items but the main Idea I had for Trading is this...

There are 5 stages of Gems; Chipped, Flawed, Normal, Flawless and Exquisite...
Exquisite Gems are the only kind of Gem that is used in Trading to bring in actual Items from the outside, each Type of Gem can bring in certain things, eg. Emeralds bring in anything to do with Trees...
Each lower level Gem can be upgraded to the next level via a Gem Cutter that comes with each Trade Caravan. The idea is that each Gem Stage upgrades to the next when a certain amount of that stage is brought in, eg. 12 Chipped = 1 Flawed. 6 Flawed = 1 Normal. 3 Normal = 1 Flawless. 2 Flawless = 1 Exquisite...

What is needed is a general idea of what each kind of Gem is attached to so that they can be set to trade for that item...

Amethyst    
Beryl    
Diamond    
Emerald    
Garnet    
Jade    
Jasper    
Opal    
Ruby    
Sapphire    
Topaz    
Tourmaline

I suggest that that system is a terrible idea because you'd need 6 3/4 stacks of chipped to make an exquisite.

Why not just have the rarity decide the price. Such as rupees in the LoZ series.

That's an intereting spot to build stuff in.
Perhaps by building an entire fortress inside the mountain itself?
Towers and stuff sticking out of the natural rock seems Dwarvenly enough to me.
