I'm not entirely sure how hanging structures work with TFC physics.

Could be fun!

Also I did the mountainhome kitchen between town hall and newb armory. I'm slowly figuring out smithing too, which is cool. At first it was frustrating, but then I was like "screw it, I will try every possible thing with every possible ingot state" and eventually it started clicking. Anyway, kitchen has four forges which you can access while up against any one forge because they're all in reach in front of you. They share a crooked chimney so rain won't come in. The side room is supposed to be for chests of uncooked food. Cooked food would be stocked in the tavern on the other side of the town hall. But I ran out of limestone blocks for the roof of the kitchen storeroom :/

Also there is space for one of those kitchen surfaces and some water sources in case we need them or just for decoration.

I'm pretty sure that stone brick and wooden planks aren't affected by the cave-in physics, right?

So a question about TFC is probably better suited to their forums, but I figured I could get some fast and easy advice from veterans here. I accidentally dropped too much copper ore into my bloomery and now I can't stuff in any coal to melt it down, how do I get that ore out? I lack a pick. I feel like I may be slightly screwed.

Just increase the height of the bloomery.

Oh I didn't realize that it worked like that. This just keeps getting cooler, thanks.

You can ALWAYS add coal.  The bloomery has a max weight in it, and then a max weight for ore and coal, so there's always room for both.  It may be 90kg ore and 20kg coal if you've done it wrong, but keep adding coal and lay on the bellows!

I think that I would be able to make a patch that would remove depth penalty for Y<128 from bloomery temperature (iron becomes totally impossible to melt with max bellows at around Y=75).

Would it be in demand or will we just settle for constructing smithies only above Y128?

I'm fine with things as they are.  The higher elevation has never bothered me.

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG...
I think we are coming close to a Stable Release for the newer version. PROBLEM... Vr59 breaks all Pre Vr59 games...
Meaning that if we update to that we will lose Armok's Throne and such...

I'm up for a new world, myself.  We can do some joint mining.

I second the motion. I think that, given how many people tend to be online at the same time (Damn you, UTC+1!), we could use mending both communities into a single one, and making a PROPER DWARF Fortress, instead of Human Fortress (only the activities that cannot be carried out underground should be on the surface).

Also, make a fortress somewhere in the far north, easier given how now there is a greater spread of z spawn coords (from 7k to 14k, I believe, but may be bigger)

I don't mind a new world.
As long as we get all the new shiny features, I'm all up for it!

We can view this world as a test.  Now we know how metals work, and how to exploit fruit trees, and how to construct.  We can Strike the Earth with a proper vengence.
