No immigrant wave after the mandatory 2nd one...

Was going to post this in bug reports -- but it got changed to bug tracker, and I am fairly certain that this can be resolved within the community. It may be a problem specific to my fortress.

I founded a fortress in a nice desert location but realized I didn't set any professions or bring anything besides the default. I abandoned and quickly reclaimed. I got the first 2 migration waves but after that I got nothing. It's been 3 years, still nothing.

It should be noted that I have invasions turned off. I'd hate to have to abandon and reclaim again. I'd especially hate to have to generate a new world. I did savescum and look into the legends to see if there are dwarf civs nearby, turns out there are. Very populated civs. I am getting caravans still also.

Anyone figure as to why?

If your cap is fine, migration waves are based on fortress wealth; though it seems unlikely that this would continue for three entire years, you may just not be producing enough shiny things to attract migrants.

Are you getting messages stating explicitly that "Your Fortress has attracted no Migrants this season"?

I heard that lots of deaths can reduce immigration due to your fort getting a bad rep.  Perhaps abandoning might do the same thing?

Anyways, I'd actually take this fort as a golden opportunity to try to build a generational fort which is populated by itself and where every life is precious, not cheaply replaced by the next migrant wave.  What's your current population?

Foolprooof way to penetrate aquifers of unlimited depth.  (Make sure to import at least 10 stones for mechanisms)
Toughen Dwarves by dropping stuff on them.  (Nothing too heavy though, and make sure to wear armor.)

Sometimes your parent civilization is dead - in this case you get only first two waves, as they are generated randomly (afaic)

Children you rescue shouldn't behave like rabid beasts.  I guess your regular companions shouldn't act like rabid beasts either.
I think that's a little more impossible than I'm likely to have time for.

You get migrants and dwarven caravans even if your site is completely inaccessible.

I'm not on a desert island and my popcap is fine. I'm certain my parent civ is fine as they are sending caravans to me.
I've tried giving away massive quantities of wealth to them, and I've built up quite a treasury myself. I tried turning invasion on -- any possibility that could be keeping immigration away from my fort?

Oh and yes; I am receiving the message. Although only one dwarf has died.
