Maybe create a rule: if you feel a character truly deserves at least a paragraph devoted to boasting about their general combat capabilities or that time they held off an entire army without problems (or tanked a nuke to the face, or regenerated in 5 seconds from a drop of their blood, or anything equally ridiculous), think very hard about adding them to the character list. Add at least one crippling disadvantage (and no, -5 Charisma or -5 Horseback Riding really isn't a crippling disadvantage, while being entirely dependent on mayonnaise to function normally is a step in the right direction).
In fact, you might extend that rule: if your character, provided they are semi-accurately statted (as accurately as such a thing can be done), has +5 to anything positive, think real hard about including this character. If you wish to keep them, consider restatting to avoid stat inflation.
Finally, if adding your character is likely to provoke a hundred-post debate on what exactly they can or cannot do, they should probably be vetoed.
Yeah, I've tried to convey this but it seems like I'll need to state it more explicitly in the rules for character creation.
And ArchAIngel, Kerrigan and Tessamorgan or whatever, I need to address that. So, they're big and powerful and nearly invincible. hat's great. But this is not Starcraft, this is Roll to Dodge Princess Celestia. And in this game the characters are to be balanced out, regardless of their source. If I was going by sources, this game wouldn't make any sense as canonically Equestria doesn't have intergalactic wars and Princess Celestia is a nice person. This just takes the original characters and morphs them into realistic individuals according to this universe I have personally created.
Could a single grunt take out one of the major characters of Starcraft in their own universe? Of course not, that's not how they function there. Could a single grunt kill any of the characters in Starcraft in this RTD? Yes, because that is how I handle the universe, and here my word is supreme law and the only people above me in any form are the forum moderators and administrators.
And with the whole "Starcraft character could take on Celestia/Luna", no. Princess Celestia, Princess Luna, Equestria, and pretty much all of the universe has dissolved to a point where anything prior to the beginning of this story is now irrelevant for this timeline. If you need a point of reference, Luna currently leads a council of deities, as in Gods who make and destroy entire galaxies, universes and realities, yet their combined forces still put them at a stalemate with Celestia's forces. The Princesses are so fucking hyperbolized that it does make any sense to compare them to the power level of anything from anywhere besides religious figures and catastrophic Eldritch Abominations.
This is why I think every "What if character X went to the universe of character Y and they fought, who would win?" is total bullshit. If you're a fan, then you have no input on who would win because you would not field the battle of these two characters, their owners and creators would. (Besides, how well-made and designed a character is has nothing to do with how strong they are, but that's an entirely different point.) The only way to compare anyone from Starcraft to MLP:FIM canonically would be if the two series had an official Blizzard-Hasbro crossover that demonstrated their abilities directly towards each other, and if that happened I would
eat my phone.I think this would be an appropriate time to mention that I do not like Military/Tactical Real Time Strategy games. I like Civilization, Total War & Anno because those games are as much about running an empire as having it go to war. But if a game is solely based around harvesting resources, using those resources to make buildings and armies, and then commanding units of an army to fight each other? Nope, not for me. This shouldn't stop anyone from suggesting these characters, (as long as they are balanced and fun of course) but don't expect me to know anything about their source material. All I knew of Starcraft before ArchAIngel was "Sci-Fi RTS", "Zerg Rush" and "Game that's super-popular in South Korea." And that's my taste. I might be the only motherfucker on this board who could say this un-sarcasticaly but
I'd much rather play Madden than Starcraft or League of Legends. So there.
.......Sorry, just had to get all that off my chest. P.S.: Superbowl MVP gets to be a character.
