Is the pistool capable of welding things? If so, weld the door shut and focus on the repairs. Use percussive repair methods if needed.

Did you miss this?

Actual update, not a on-the-fly-wtf-is-he-thinking:

Not taking any risk, you weld the door's lock with your pistool (you can always blast it open later. Or take the other door.), and for good measure take a few shots through a pre-existing hole. You're rewarded with the stopping of the banging. (I forgot that you're still depressurized and that there isnt any sound... Oh well, Let's say your suit can capt vibrations of the metal structure and tranform it into sounds for you. Can't capt the creature's shriek though.)
You then turn your attention toward the consoles and begin the hard work of ripping functionnal part from various broken consoles and replace them in the one you selected.

...loading, please wait...

At least! You managed to fix a console. And those things aren't intelligent enough to think about checking the other door. This or they are smart enough not to check your pistool twice. Anyway, you can have those readings now! No way as clear and deciphered as it should be, but enough to tell where the hell you are.

*insert indigest wall of data here*
*processing by AI via video feedback*

The result took several minutes to come, but here it is. You are in orbit around a telluric planet (inside the asteroid field also orbiting said planet) , with no star within at least a couple lightyears. This kind of things is extremely rare, but a planet may sometimes escape its home star's gravity.
These worlds -this world- are plunged in absolute darkness and cold for billions of years. There is few more hellish place in the universe (ones having a solid surface that is). And there you are. What now?

"processing acquired data... Orbiting around planet... Reactors damaged 47.663%... Destination not reached... Subroutin DS-003p activated: cancel destination. cancel repairs. Begin colonization process."
WHAT?
"Begin colonization process. Subroutins activated." *RUMBLE*

The "system" is composed of exactly one planet, its asteroid field, and nothing else as far as the sensors can tell. You ask the computer what the hell it is thinking, and it answer like that:
Subroutin DS-003p activated. Probability of reaching initial destination extremely low, necessitate high expenses for repair, both in time and ressources. Alternate destination possible, reached. Probability of success higher than reaching initial destination. Most efficient course of action is: changing main objective object.

joy. ask it to scan the system for anything interesting, and the world. ask where those things came from.

err why?
Because the ship is still a wreck? If we're going to colonize we'll need to purge the ship of all invading lifeforms and patch it up.

Ask the computer about the composition of the asteroids in the field around the planet. Also ask if there is any data on this planet, and try to find if it has any atmosphere. Also scan ship for number of hostile lifeforms.

plus if we wait then we can CHOOSE where we settle. and its more useful in space. its probably not even meant to land.
