Yeah, during the opening I was actually getting pretty excited, thinking that maybe it wasn't shit after all. And then the inevitable occurred: the game began.

Well still kudos to the game for trying something new.
Other games relying on physics like postal 2 or HL2 weren't to come for at least 3 more years.

I hope you know I was kidding. The game has shit for mechanics because it was released as what amounts to a pre-alpha build. Probably also because it was a Jurassic Park game; that alone tends to be an indicator. It was only thanks to an utterly predictable stroke of greed and stupidity that it was so-bad-it's-good instead of below-average bleh.

I know you were sarcastic back there but the game really DID something original.
Also your character is crippled with her left hand broken (i think i read something about it in a gaming magazine over a decade ago).

It was basically the portal of its time... if portal was released as a half made barely playable beta.

Uh. Except it didn't really have any 'unique' or 'innovative' mechanics or ideas. I don't think that being shit counts as innovation. Half Life was released in the same year, and did pretty much everything better (physics, gunplay, setting, enemies, puzzles, etc.). Except for the health meter. No tattoo health-meter on Freeman's tit, much to the regret of people everywhere.

I've seen the "trapped in Jurassic Park with arbitrary objectives and hostile dinos" done better in CS:S zombiemod escape maps, for crying out loud.

Maybe they could have made a great game with enough time and money. But I wouldn't bet on it.

Actually Valve stated that trespasser was one of the inspirations for the HL2 physics engine. Sure the engine SEEMS like shit, but only because of the sheer amount of bugs. And Farcry more or less had rebuilt a engine, for the time it was very good.

I was talking more about the fact that, as a franchise adaption game, they probably wouldn't have been given the time, funding, or creative freedom to do things right. Which they weren't :P

Nope, apparently the Dev team were told to implement to many features. The physics engine had numerous bugs, like a propensity to crash when raptors entered buildings, they would become lodged within walls, or just plain bug out.

So basically this is when a development team is swamped because a publisher forces "Next gen" onto them and they just cannot do it, but they cannot not do it because they signed a contract.

The Dev Team also talked about things they weren't supposed too.

I have to ask: was that dramatic anti-T-rex music part of the game? Because if so, I just gained a tiny bit of extra respect for the developers.

Of course, that makes up the the amount of respect I lost from the crumbling temple. Seriously - when one random stone head nearly kills you, it's shocking. When every single stone head in the temple magically breaks free just as you approach it, the suspense starts to fade just a little.

I added the music, there was no cool fight music at all, zip. The traps are odd, sometimes they trigger, other times they trigger halfway, other times not at all. Where the trex initially attacked me, there were ceiling tiles that were mean't to fall and crush you.

What a death, having survived the harsh conditions of site B, braved Dinosaur and key card alike and a rouge ceiling tile takes you down.

Some how I feel that would of been a fitting end to this game, a sudden smack on the top of the head, you lose control of your arm and the screen fades to black as you lay there bleeding out and dieing from massive head trauma. Then you get a voice over from John Hammond explaining how the Island was never meant to be rediscovered and how nature has its way.

My god that ending is beautiful!

Honestly I am convinced episode 7 was brought to us by ghosts.

Also can you guage "Life is Beautiful" from deadly premonition in terms of its usability if you are planning on switching out Somba De Chocobo? I think it is too slow frankly.

I should look into Mario Kart for the one music in it.

I have taken into account the music, although I finished editing everything by the time you suggested it. Also about half of this video got cut off because the video was corrupt, I mainly talked about what I would LP after this.

Finished the game, I actually had a tiny bit of fun. This game hardly hurt! Daikatana is going to be a piece of cake.

Try doing Odium/Gorky17 at some point in the future.
It's like FF Tactics meets Silent Hill... at least it's supposed to.
