Yeah, if he sucks that much we'll hire the revolutionary leader.

Funfact: A bleb is weakened part of the lung, often giving way under stress, creating a hole and collapsing the lung.

Maybe we should save the blebs for when we're attacked, so we can inflict them on our foes.

Who's gonna be the last specialist? I'm still for a natural scientist - chemistry and physics will come in handy in this place.

Do we need an architect?

Day 1, expedition log

The plebs have been send to gather wood, and thanks to their labour, and the expert direction of the overseer, almost 3 dozen trees have been felled, and dragged back to the camp site. A small workshop was set up and the leaves and branches were seperated, to be used later as fuel for the fires.

Meanwhile, the engineer has made some plans for a dock, though sadly it appears he has been influenced by our expedition leader. It contains a large wooden statue, which not only obstructs the view for the ships, but also increases costs tremendously.

The Geologist and the Plogistonist have done a succesfull expedition towards the volcano. A promising ore vein has been found, imbedded in the mountain flank, thought the fumaroles erupting from the side only seem to contain a measly bit of Plogistinum. Nevertheless, samples have been taken to be studied in a lab, but even then rafinage will be hard, so it might be needed to go further up the flank.

The night is quiet and the weather unusually warm, and the soldiers report seeing nothing wrong. This certainly improves the mood.

Keep exploring the volcano.
Build the dock. And the statue.
Maybe send five plebs to mine.

Maybe send a soldier or two with the plebs in the mines, you never know what's down there.

That would cost 80 wood, btw. (One tree = 5 wood)

36*5=180. We'd have plenty of wood left over.

Build six houses and a zeppelin dock; we need to keep our people happy, and without trade, there won't be much progress. Houses have priority though.
Get a few (ten) of the plebs to mine; have around five soldiers scout for a source of drinkable water. Scrap the statue.

Any input on the fiifth specialist?

And 10ebbor10, if you're being inspired that obsolete theory of oxidation, I believe it's spelled "Phlogiston". Just thought I'd let you know ;)

Day 2-7 (I decided to switch to weeks instead of days, to allow for more progress)

Expansion continues at the assumed rate. The volcano was explored further, but the geologist and phlogistonist soon found their path barred by a large crack in the ground, from which an arrangement of foulish gasses erupted once every five minutes.

Construction was debated on this week though people agreed that the exploitation of the ore vein was certainly in order. A small mine was set up, and the first units of ore and stone were shipped out today. The process is however very inefficient as the ore has to be brought down by hand. Nevertheless, 2 units of copper ore have been harvested, amongst large amounts of useless rock.

The wood workshop has been operating at near maximum efficiency, and a lot of trees have been processed, turned into usefull timber for construction purposes.

Construction doesn't progress much. While some work was done on the majestetic statue of our leader and beloved bureaucrat, most of it was wasted when the foundation collapsed during a small storm and the statue drifted out to sea.

We weren't the only ones brought in trouble by the storm though. A few fools who decide not to shelter amidst the lightning reportedly saw an airship in trouble, losing altitude and cargo before crashing onto the top of the mountain. I'm unsure about the validity of their story, but the next day a couple of crates washed ashore, containing some bottles of the finest Stahlmarkian brandy.
