It has arrived in full glory, Episode 10: http://youtu.be/xzuDnDf8G5k

Ok, maybe its not that great, but I do learn one thing; Inventory management is a pain in the arse.

I mean only having (you have 4, but one is for a weapon) 3 slots to hold stuff is pretty cruel, and I'm not exactly being picky with what I pick up.

So, when I'm not preparing for battle, I'll be fighting my inventory system; wonderful.

those potions you're giving to other characters increase stats, while those aren't to important, unlike Turbo Peppers. And you have probably already found out that gong can't equip that sword.

Thanks to you I've bought and started playing this game as well. I've lost twice in my first battle...my main character got rushed by the dark knight and was killed in two blows during one turn :( The second time was due to a dark dwarf attacking my main character once and before my main character could move away, he had another turn and attacked me twice.

Now I know the wonders of healing herbs and it's smooth sailing from now on :)

Well I do have Episode 12 here: http://youtu.be/3Ic9LTgjRAw

Though considering you're subscribed Kilroy, and I kind of fell asleep for 4 hours after uploading it, you've  probably already seen it!

Right, as for the episode, the Battle of Alterone continues with us kicking ass. Basically only 2 snipers and 1 mage stand in front of the entire Shining Force now, and we have relatively high HP after I've healed most of the party back up to full health.

And after talking with Kilroy apparently my best tactic is to bum rush the mage and end it ASAP as he can dish out damage, and with my entire force pretty much ready to run at the mage face first, I think that's easily achievable.

As for uploading more often, I normally tend to record, encode and upload 1 video a day, mainly because my internet sucks, its not diabolically bad, but for one 15 minute video it can take 2 hours to upload. This just makes it a pain to be honest. Though fear not I spoke with my landlord this morning (mainly as he actually lives in the house) and flat out offered him more money for better internet.

The zombies have a special move if I remember correctly, one that you may not be prepared for.

Since I actually owned Shining Force for the genesis I'll give you a few hints.
  • Don't promote characters until they are level 20, any sooner and you won't get the best stat gains
  • In the room where you get the moonstone, search all of the walls, there is a secret hidden item for Tao
  • The egg you find contains one of the best magic users in the entire game
  • There are multiple hidden characters, most of them outclass almost everyone else
  • Don't bother leveling that elven archer, trust me on this, he will suck major balls.

Alright, cool lets play. Gotta work on your tactics tough. I haven't played SF but I know a little about these games in general. Use choke points, force weak enemies between you and strong enemies and use ranged units to whittle down the strong enemies who can't attack you. Your centaur knight is good for this because of relatively good armor and ranged attack. In general he probably should have a role where he attack from a distance and work as a backup to fill up holes that might emerge if one of your frontliners dies, he have a lot of movements points in flat terrain, but don't use him in the front line in general as he do not seem to have much HP.
A few things about that. Enemies almost never move from their starting position unless scripted to, and most of the time that scritping only activates in proximity of one of your guys. In fact, you can cheese the first battle using your ranged troops, and they'll never respond. Also note that even though Ken starts with a ranged attack, all but one or two other weapons for your Knights is a melee lance. Also note that Ken also gains ridiculous amounts of hitpoints later on.

I don't remember enemies ever dropping items in this game, except

Of course, you can just kill the zombies with fire.

I seem to recall some Rings dropping from Enemies as well. It's been many a-year since I've made it very far into a game of Shining Force.

I noticed a few enemies carrying Shield Rings, but I've never seen them drop. Then again I've never grinded battles other than the first, and even then just to get Max and Tao to level 4(Tao because of her Blaze spell, and Max because he just tended to get up front more in that battle). Then again, I remember owning this game on the Genesis, and for some reason the battery thing wouldn't work, so everything was lost when the console was turned off, so I tried to beat the game in one day, many times.
Never saw a single Shield Ring drop, to my knowledge.

Ok episode 17 is here: http://youtu.be/ry41wsbxj6c

Let me tell you, I hate those zombies!

The zombies have a special move if I remember correctly, one that you may not be prepared for.

Holy hell, if that is true I got lucky, though if Akura is right then poison is just as bad. Plus I don't want to know what that other enemy is, but I'm proberbly guaranteed to hate it!

Well according to my incredibly small amount of research, akin to a few Google searches, stuff drops in Shining Force II, but I've not found much on it happening in Shining Force. Still I don't really plan on spending much time grinding, only enough to make it enjoyable to watch. Like being slightly over-leveled so I can win, but its still suspenseful.

Then again, I remember owning this game on the Genesis, and for some reason the battery thing wouldn't work, so everything was lost when the console was turned off, so I tried to beat the game in one day, many times.

That suuuuuuuuuucks! I mean if you did manage to do it, or leave the console running (without it dying of course) then that would of been impressive. Like seriously impressive.

Right, next episode, we go into Manarina and find Princess Anri, who in all respects should be dead by now if Runefaust knew what they where doing, and so far they've had there stuff relatively well together. Still that's not going to stop the Shining Force from trying!

It's been awhile so most of the information I've given is only kinda correct. Sorry 'bout that.

Ok Kinda reviving a dead thread here!

I have actually still been uploading episodes and have covered a lot of ground some ground since episode 17. So rather than mass link stuff here is just a link to the playlist, its better that way!

Playlist: http://tinyurl.com/c98p6v2

Right, basically, I've managed to get onto chapter 3. I had a stupid amount of trouble with the Marionette, I managed to win though after practically sacrificing my entire force! Now I've just managed to get to the town of Bustoke, which apparently has been subjugated into mining all day.

Still updates should continue as per normal now, since I'm trying to be a tad more proactive on the whole LP front and building a community!

That Marionette. I remember the first time I fought him. Ouch. Infinite MP and Freeze 3. Just ouch.

The fight wouldn't be so damn cruel if it wasn't for his regenerating health! I was seeing around him get around 11hp back per turn, which is insane considering players haven't encountered regenerating units before this battle. At one attempt I managed to clear the field, but all my fighters died so I couldn't even inflict 11 points of damage a turn, so I simply used him to grind a tad before being obliterated.

Sometimes I don't get this game, I mean at the moment I'm grinding up a tad in the quarry at Bustoke as these hard battles just come about, and there is no preparation for them as there is no like random battles to grind on its either die trying or egress.

P.S. That steel arrow kicks ass!
