So it's soon going to be Movember when people grow facial hair, either for prostate cancer fund raising, or for personal enjoyment. Either way I figured that there should be a thread for this in which people planned what they're going to do.

Personally I might try and grow a handlebar mustache and mutton chops. I'll play around with ideas until the start of the month, but there will be chops.

As a bearded gent, I am in. Others run marathons for charity, but as an overwieght and unfit man I think this method suits me better, and its an annual tradition in work. Aiming for a Ho-Chi-Minh style effort this year, pending last minute changes. Might even post pics here as it takes shape.

I need to shave to make them grow and get darker more rapidly.

Old wives' tale. One which I imagine was concocted by parents who didn't want to be seen with teenaged children who attempted to grow beards despite numerous warnings from Mother Nature.

Still, shaving my 'stache is kind of a necessity if I don't want the literal skeletons in the basement to rack up.

As I am shaving my head this month for breast cancer, and I am a firefighter so I cant have a beard, I'm not participating in movember... I refuse to be bald with a big ass mustache xD

...So, you shave at the very start of November and then let it grow, right?
I generally only get very light hair on my face, whilst my neck rapidly grows into a tangled forest by comparison. And hair barely grows at all on the very front of my chin, leading to a very weird, mis-matched look.
The best looking facial hair I can manage is a barely-noticeable moustache and a little tuft of hair under my lip.
Sure, count me in.

You don't have to shave at the start of November, but that is the spirit of things. I'm actually starting now, so I can start shaping it at the start of the month. Handlebar mustaches take a while to grow because of the curly ends, so I'm hoping that I'll have something waxable by the end of this. I actually know a place that sells mustache wax in city, so I'll post pictures once it's noticeable.

If I let mine go that long...yikes. Maybe if I'm unemployed next Movemeber. I don't think work would take kindly to having 3 inches of dark brown pelt on my throat and a mustache that would rival Sam Elliott.
