Mechanical keyboard - nvm, just the click of your keyboard is lord, or your mic catches everything.

Oh that's my microphone. I tried to find a better one locally that was a headset but had no luck at all. It catches everything and I currently record in a very quiet room. If I didn't you would hear all sorts of background buzzing or fans running or something... Before I did that you could hear every word my wife said from across the room, or could very prominently hear her typing. You used to be able to hear my mouse super loudly but I bought a new one that was much more quiet. There isn't currently anything I can do about the keyboard though. Its pretty quiet, but my mic can hear a pin drop across the room.  :-[

I have been trying to get back in DF for a bit now, watched the first few videos and decided to give this a shot.

Here are my results so far:
Failed to get underground 3 times
Starved to death 3 times
Died to butchering 2 times
Let undead into my fort 3 times

So far my best run lasted until early autumn.  I decided to setup an air lock for letting immigrants in however I made two major mistakes.  First I forgot to raise the bridge.  Second I made a retracting bridge instead of a raising bridge.  The immigrants that failed to out run the local undead took this chance to rush into the fort and make some new friends.

The last time I had this much fun was when I stopped using traps in 40d.

Based on your most recent video, I'd say a tantrum spiral is in the cards, quite likely one that will kill your fortress.

The wagons in the caravan will not path over your traps. You'll have to move them back a bit.

Really? Thanks! Must have been one of those weird little details I had forgotten or for some reason never came up. I think I usually give the caravan its own trap-less dedicated entrance.

Straight from the wiki in the Depot article: "Also note that traps will block accessibility, so you cannot use them to defend your Depot."

Remember to see if no tree grows in the way. I had such situation once, since then I always shift+D from time to time. However it sounds, trees in dwarf fortress are pretty sneaky.

I feel that the FUN is coming! When are we going to see first recruits?

Also, good job with cutting boring scenes, I wish someone could cut them from my life when I play df myself... especially designating.

My first try lasted a full 20 seconds, started raining putrid slime and turned 6 of my dwarfs into husks before I could even get underground. Only the one with the pick was out of the rain.

Wonder what will happen next. :|

Sweet, got my dwarven maternal armour going now. And you aren't the only one who hates those huge migrant waves, I'd absolutely love an init option for migrant wave size.

Cant say exactly when the next episode will be out. My work week starts on Sunday and it is especially rough this week. Also its hard to say if I will have power next week with the hurricane coming my way.  :-\
