At first i thought i'd go with option three because the way it was written amused me, but then i figured that you were the one that wrote that one so i might go with option 1 instead =P

I'm sure someone will do option two, then let people do option three with alpha access.

Is there a single example of this actually being the case?

Looks like a good game and i was about to buy it but... the only payment option as far as i can tell is through paypal and as i dont have a paypal account and have no interest in making one, it seems like i will give it a miss.

I'd be willing to sort it out for you if you can get the money to me another way or want to buy me a game of around the same price.

Hey guys, Scriptwolf/Joel shot me an email about this thread, so I thought I would pop in and say hi, I am one of the devs... Happy to answer any questions  :D

Nice. Do you get future updates for free aswell? Or only the alpha version?

You get all future updates included in either version :)  Next update will be random generation, one after that will be the rafting update.  We kind of have a habit of making the updates in themes.

Hi gnome glad you could join us :).

Out of interest you said about random generation being the next update what sort of stuff is going to be generated like that ?

Also is animal keeping/breeding will be or is possible ? In one of the dev logs you showed killing a chicken but could you not have kept the chicken and gotten eggs from it or used in breeding ?

We will definitely do another pass on the animals at some point, with pets / produce / breeding being 100 percent on the cards at this stage, though at this point the focus is random generation and the rafting update, which will round out the core features of the game pretty well before going on to do more detailed focused stuff.  We are hoping to generate entire islands randomly with the option when we release the modding tools to allow the users to change the parameters to allow them to build tailored islands, without throwing away the ability to make hand crafted islands as they are currently, as some people still may be keen on something hand made, though I imagine most people will be keen on the replayability of a new island every time :)

As far as the rafting update, it will be a bit of a upgrade on the current build system and we would like to implement some sort of white water / curling waves (we already have waves just no white water as of yet) as well as a whole host of new things to do while at sea as well as a decent list of dangers, stuff like sharks, starvation, thirst are already in game so we might have to get a bit creative!  Open to any suggestions you guys may have also!  I think the biggest reason to knock these two updates out first is it gives the game a end goal rather than just existing on the island, sail your way home, which is really needed at this point.  I think once that's all done we can start taking feature requests / update request from our alpha supporters, and implement the most popular ones.

We are hoping to get random generation out in 2-3 weeks, rafting will be a big one so probably about 3-4 weeks, the building one took about 1.5 months which was a bit on the ridiculous side, but I had some family problems about mid way - that being said it was worth the time invested, I am pretty happy how it turned out :)  Some of the smaller updates like the animal one mentioned would be much quicker, kind of the downside of being a small indie team, asset stuff usually takes a little longer.

Out of interest What sort of stuff do you plan for the raft update, i take it that update will focus of sea adventures and other stuff you can do with the ocean.

would you ever consider a kickstarter?
