Futur developement

More tilesets. (Cla, JollyBastion, Vherid)
More optional modifications. (a slippery slope)
More utilities. (I wouldnt even know which ones)
More standardization (even less rocks/gems/stuff)
More bugfixes (whatever is left)
More balancing (for example include Modest Bodies with better joints)
Something else, I let you know in the comments.

Don't know if this is effecting anybody but I found that SHOES:ITEM_SHOES_BOOTS_LOW:COMMON in entity_default.txt under Dwarves doesn't have the [] around it. It's a minor thing. Low boots are found in item_shoes.txt, so I don't know if that's something Meph intended to take out or to leave in.

disregard my earlier post about the low boots things. I was reading the change log on the front of the page and saw where Meph said that he removed low boots.  He removed it by just removing the brackets. It's still there in the files.

Suggestion: Allow users to keep chalk in the game. On my map it's the only form of flux stone... I edited the raws back but it would be nice to have known about it beforehand/had an option to turn it off.

Another suggestion is aquifer. I love it as an infinite water source that can be used for making unpenetrable plumbing. I spent half an hour just to understend why is it missing and to make it back. I don't say that we need all of the aquifer minerals. But one or two soils - why not? Maybe a button should be to switch it on/off.

I started playing Dwarf Fortress a few months ago, on a measly netbook. When I found this mod, I was really glad, as I could finally play with more than 50 dwarfs and it not being a problem FPS-wise.

However, recently PeridexisErrant rebooted the LNP on which this mod is based. Is there any effort to remake this mod for his version of the Lazy Noob Pack? I tried replacing the raws myself, but that doesn't seem to do the trick (at least, not all of it. For example, I still have all the soil and rock types). Any help would be appreciated!

Replacing the RAWs should work so long as you do so after changing tilesets, as I think that overrides some RAW files and may uninstall the mod.

That could have been it. After my post, I analyzed the DF folders of both the AMM mod and a fresh download of the new LNP (I was a few versions behind anyway) using WinMerge. I am using Phoebus for both of them, so that isn't causing any trouble. But I've supplanted the full raw folder of AMM into LNP, and now it seems to run fine! I did have to do some editing in the dfhack.init files though, to get the settings of both of them in 1 file. But otherwise, the supporting files of LNP are more than enough to support this mod.

So, what you are saying is, that you'd like to see a Accelerated Modest Mod + LNP and all the utilities?

If you already did this, and you say that it works, could you please upload it, so that I can have a look?

Yeah, that's what I want. Because of my previous errors, I thought there was more to it than swapping the raw files, but I've got it working now.

If you want a copy, I can send it to you. I did already include some of my other changes (like deleting unwanted utilities, and some init settings), so I'm not completely confident in uploading it to dffd and presenting it as my own work or something like that.

It would definetly be a collaboration, no one can claim that he did the work.. after all its Lucas for th LNP, PeridexisErrant for the updated package, Igfig for the Modest Mod, and me for Accelerated. And you for bundling it up ;)

I can talk to peridexiserrant, ask if I can upload it, or if he wants to upload it... I think it would make sense to post a link both here and in his thread, about this possible mix. ;)

What's the status with the latest LNP and Modest?  I'm not about to analyze files with winmerge and edit dfinit to get everything to mesh.  Playing this game gives me headache enough.  Getting it to play that way might just cause an aneurysm. If you've got an updated package, by all means, please share it.

And if that's not going to happen, can I safely just install what's in the first post of this thread and everything run fine?  I've been away from this game for a few months and I honestly don't remember what my last set up was.

The pack in the first post runs fine. Alternatively, you can replace the full DF folder in the new LNP with the ones from here, and do the same for the raws and data/init folder in the graphics packs of the LNP (otherwise installing a graphics pack undoes this mod). If you want to be thorough, you need to merge the DFHack folders too (and the dfhack.ini file).

I have a version that is working in that way (new LNP+Accelerated Modest Mod), but it is huge (because of savegames and Soundsense files), so I need to clean up some stuff before considering uploading. I sent Meph an old file, but he was still waiting to hear from Peridexis. Since then, some new revisions in the LNP were released.

In short: the quickest way is to do it yourself. Just don't forget to check your ini and d_ini setting.

My brain is too addled from drug use during my naive college years to be able to follow half of what you just said.  The pack included in this thread will have to do for me.

A plea from college pot heads to Meph: please post one last update to this this before DF2014.  I bet you Toady won't get out a new version any time in the next 6 months, so whatever you post will be good for quite some time.

Actually, from what I read, the biggest update to Dwarf fortress will be that chopped trees will now fall in a particular direction (THANK YOU TOADY THAT IS TOTALLY WHAT USERS DESIRE) so fuck it I'm just going to use this download and be happy it still has dwarfs in it that do some mildly useful things.

Hello!
I have a long-runnin' fort, which is in Cold biome. Due to this, at starting moment all water was frozen.
I didn't care of that, and ran fort for 4 years already, with lots of stuff created.
Now I thought of "why did the waterfall neva de-freeze?" and viewed the d_init.txt. It had "[TEMPERATURE:OFF]"! :(
I turned the damn thing on, and loaded the save just to see that 90% of (useful) stone I've dug just went in "pufffh" and disappeared, as well as all my iron bars and all my workshops. I turned temperature off and savescummed :(
What should I do to get my magma destroyers up again?

Okay, bugreport:
[BOILING_POINT:1] in raws for several materials of inogranic_stone_layer.

Whenever i read the "doesn't care about anything anymore" line, i instantly imagine a dwarf, sitting alone on a swing set. Just slowly rocking back and forth, somberly staring at the ground, and stopping every once in a while to sigh.
It's mildly depressing.

Meph does this with this mod because evaporating excess stone can reduce clutter. However if you're an experienced player you probably already manage your stone efficiently through crafting, masonry and gemcutting. Personally I use this mod with my own custom set of stone raws to reduce the varieties of stone to the bare minimum and retain their default melting points.
