I used reveal after a LOT of digging in both. No candy whatsoever! I will look for this file. If it's not there can I just copy and paste your post in, save it, regen a world, and everything will be good again?

Maybe. I've never dug to candy before, and I never used reveal for that. The file's in the raw/objects folder and if it's not there, that might be the problem. Otherwise, something's wrong with generating it, and you'll just have to cheat if you really want it.

It might be the fact that it's tagged with [DEEP_[Spoilers]], so you have to use that to find it.

Well the code is there. Interesting. Durrrrr. Nevermind. Didn't use "reveal hell". No wonder I missed it in the dig. It's a tiny vein 2 squares over from tunnel. Never saw so little candy ever!

Hmmm, thought. Could custom reactions be used to replace items made from bone, hoof, tooth etc. at the craftsdwarf's workshop? That could specify the final product to be made of OBJECT:ANIMAL bone instead of the input item's type. This would reduce preferences for any obscure variety of bone items from your dwarves whilst still allowing you to produce bolts and crafts.

You could do this, but the custom reaction wouldnt respect stacks. 16 bones would give you only 1 item for example.

Yeah, guess that's a bust too.

What we really need are [BONE], [SHELL], [TOOTH], [HORN] and [PEARL] item tokens to match material definition tokens. Sadly these don't exist. Well, guess I'll have to live with either abandoning butchered products for the refuse stockpiles or living with long lists of impossible preferences. Honestly I think I'll probably just dump the bones in the trash. I rarely rely on bonecarving as a source of goods.

Okay, I've created an acceptable workaround for dwarves having preferences for bone, hoof and the like.

There's no way to stop the butchered animal items from being named after their respective sources. However, once they're crafted they come out as generic crafts, including bone bolts. Unfortunately this mod doesn't remove preferences for the item from a dwarf's thoughts, so your nobles might still mandate items from materials you can't create. I figured out a workaround for this.

I made a second material template file called material_template_accelerated, making a direct copy of the original material_template_default file.

I deleted all material templates from the new file except for bone, hair, tooth, leather, horn hoof, pearl, silk and shell. I renamed them to [MATERIAL_TEMPLATE:BONE_TEMPLATE_ACCELERATED] etc.

In material_template_default, I removed all of these material use tokens from the above material templates: [BONE], [TOOTH], [HORN], [PEARL], [SHELL], [LEATHER] and [SILK]. I also removed [ITEMS_HARD], [ITEMS_SOFT] etc. from these entries.

In creature_accelerated I renamed any USE_MATERIAL_TEMPLATE entry corresponding to the new material_template_accelerated file to point at this file instead of the default.

Presto! No more preferences for bone, tooth, hoof, leather items etc. I'm really happy with the results.

Thats sounds like a good solution. Excuse me asking, but do nobles ask for specific creature materials in demands/mandates ? I only know of material types and item types, but I dont remember ever seeing anyone requesting items made of a specific creature/plant.

Also another minor change I've made is to make cartilage rot. Feel free to remove the token if you wish, it's not strictly vanilla.

As for noble mandates, apparently rumor has it the behavior was changed in the recent versions to avoid mandating the material of the item made, just the item type.

Wasn't the material mandate also fixed?

Minor, but at least you get a better selection of preferences now that will let you give your favorite dwarf exactly what he likes. Although it should be noted I've not fixed preferences for specific meat types with this update.

Thanks a lot. So to sum it up, for the changelog:

 - Fixed missing yarn token
 - Fixed wool using silk template
 - Lowered amount of available material types for mandates, to avoid nobles demanding materials that dont exist.
 - Renamed standard creature materials to "animal material" instead of "  material".

Does that sound about right? I would change the anmial name again to ::: for my release, even if it means a double space ingame, but I could make a mention of your alternate version if you want to :)

I will also add a small selection if requested buildings, like the display stand, include dfhack, therapist and write a little readme.

Changelog looks right, if there's anything else I notice I'll let you know.

Only meat was changed to say "animal meat" etc. Other items, such as leather, wool, silk, bone and so forth were not altered in my version. This is just to avoid the doublespacing issue, which doesn't occur with anything other than meat.

For Typhuss, there's two versions on the main page. The raw only version changes just the raws. There's also currently a preliminary version that is merged with the Modest Mod that has a binary patched version of the executable.

I wonder if you could play around with the [MEAT_NAME:NONE:meat:meat] to get better results? Obviously you can't get rid of the space completely, but it's quite possible to shorten the names, get rid of the "prepared" prefix, etc. I assume that's what you were talking about earlier about converting it to the masterwork mod style. Personally I prefer keeping a cleaner look to the menus, and if I have to see "animal" meat, I'm prepared to accept it.

Alright so something doesn't seem to be working properly here, and I'm out of ideas.

I noticed that, since installing this mod, my tileset (Ironhand) has not been working properly. Almost everything shows up properly, but when I smooth or engrave stone, problems start. "Pillars" (i.e. end caps of walls when smoothed) are showing up incorrectly, and engraving is also behaving strangely (showing symbols representing the subject matter of the engraving rather than the default ironhand "generic engraved stone" tile. I'm pretty new to this whole thing and have no idea how to edit raws to fix these problems. At first I thought there was a conflict with Lazy Newb Pack, but after creating and trying a new instance of DF without LNP, I can say with certainty that the issue is with the mod itself. It occurs to me that perhaps these are just disparities between the version of ironhand included with this mod and the version included in LNP, but after looking at the tileset in MSpaint, I can clearly see that pillars and generic "engraved stone" tiles do exist in the version of Ironhand included in the mod, but are notably absent in the game itself. Despite my very limited knowledge of how all of this works, I have been at this for literally hours, and have no idea how to fix it. I assume the raws which dictate which tile is used to represent something in-game can be edited, but I simply have no idea how to do it. Any help would be appreciated. My sincere apologies in advance for being such a newb. I'm pretty new to all of this and far less computer savvy than most of the posters I see around here.
