Hell's Hollow (d20 shadow stalkers) OOC. Episode 1 FULL
« on: October 20, 2012, 04:22:42 am »

IC Thread

There is a small coastal town known as Hell's Hollow.  Nestled against a lake known only as the Devil's Mirror this quiet out of the way town is hidden from the rest of the state by heavy woodland and the thick fog that seems to never diminish.  Those that have heard of Hell's Hollow claim it to be haunted, cursed.  Other's believe the town is simply a front to protect the coven of witchs and demons that live on the island at the center of the lake.  Some claim the town it'self doesn't even exist.  But you found your way there, and for the most part it is just a town of fisherman and foresters, or... is it?

Obviously not, that would be boring.  The year is 1859, you and a few other ignorant fools have wandered into a town called Hell's Hollow next to The Devil's Mirror, which has an island in the center called The Devil's Eye.  Clearly your life could of gone better, but it's a shame cause now your here.

This is a d20 modern campaign that I will play either as a post by post deal, or by using This! for when the off chance battle happens.

Spoiler: Campaign Rules (click to show/hide)

I like the D20 modern system :P

I'll start drawing up a sheet, but what's our game theme going to be-like, survival horror? Adventure? A bit of everything?

Edit: Also, whats our stat spread going to be?

And finally, can we use parts of these web-enhancements when it makes sense in our setting?

Its gonna be episodic, with chances to roll new characters in between adventures.  Mostly mystery/survival,  think supernatural but in the 19th century.

25 point buy seems reasonable.

Ill review the sources, but they're probably fine.  Run stuff through first to be safe.

I have to admit, I love using the d20 system. It's really fun to use in a good game! I'll write up a sheet when I get a chance.

I'm thinking 3 minimum, 6 max.  No waiting lists though, you just have to try again during the ndxt episode.  Players aren't gonna be forced to work together, but its a small town so its bound that you'll cross paths with others.

Edit: also I care more about cool characters then well useful ones.

@Kotw: How combat oriented will this game be, you think?

Depends on whatevers happening at the time, and how you treat the situation.

Heres my non-finalized sheet. No inventory calculated yet.

He's a smart travelling barman, but I plan to play him as more of a 'common sense' person, then one who would use technical jargon.

From the Web-Enhancements, I used the Craftsman Profession and the Self Improvement Feat (which gives +1 a stat)

Does it look good so far, KOTW?

I suck at history, so I need to ask: Is there any cartridge weapons in the time period we'll be playing in?

And I'm thinking I'll make a mentalist of some kind. Maybe something religious or scientific would be fitting? OH, how about a writer, artist or performer of some kind?

GM said percussion cap tech.

@Zako: In the first post, it says we're in percussion cap age. It's a bit a ways till those.

Ninja'd

Also, I think all those are good ideas, btw. A Charismatic Hero+Preacher type, maybe?

I know he said percussion cap tech, but looking through the book now, there are actually a few catridge guns that were around at that time. Well, according to the year in the book at any rate...

Looks good, since you don't have the sidekick feat or leadership or whichever one it is, you won't control your lady friend at all.

If its available during the time then you can use it.  Priests should totally use crossbows though.
