I'm stuck in a rock and a hard place, and I need this FAST, so where do I put the string for [NO:FEAR] to dwarves? I can't really explaoin why I need it, I just do! Please help!

If you need it in a saved game, go into your data/save folder.  Open the region folder of your save, then raw/objects.  Open creature_standard.txt.  The dwarf creature should be first.  Then just add [NOFEAR] into it somewhere, like right after their name and tile tags.  Save and reload your game, dwarves should now have NOFEAR.

Argh!!!! I did it and the damn dwarves are STILL canceling to build a staircase to get to this zombie head!!!! Like... I'm running out of ideas...

-cough- Try removing 2EYES from their BODY?  If you make them blind, they can't see it.

Can they still build the stairs without eyes?

They should, yes.  As soon as the stairway is completed though, I'd recommend adding it back - blind dwarves are...not the best melee fighters, we'll put it that way.

im fairly sure that blind melee fighters are better than blind ranged fighters

They're not, they just have less potential for collateral damage
