I have re-written the background for Director Kundert in an attempt to reconcile various problems of historical accuracy and timeframe pointed out in various private messages. Personally I think the original version was a lot simpler, but...*shrug* There it is.

Looks good, though I believe there was only one Taskforce. The #11 comes from 'the number of mistakes it made in Operation Desert Bear', it seems.

...ok, fixed...but there still feels like a huge time discrepancy here. Cuban Missile Crisis in 1961, and the character submission for Mikhail mentions the embezzling taking place in 1975.

Like I said in PM, if the game is taking place in the modern day...what's been going on for the past 35 years?

There's a huge time gap. I've tried to fill it in in my rewrite...but in the rewrite I wasn't even appointed to the Taskforce For the Balance of Power until 1990.

Micelus...what sort of timeframe did you have in mind for this? You appear to have the embezzling occurring in 1975...if the game takes place today, what's been going on for the past 37 years?

Nothing. Exactly nothing, LB. The Taskforce has been utterly disbanded and the NAM lacks a joint-espionage force. It's only been re-established recently, presumably by you. The embezzling has been taking place for several years already, just that Mikhail discovered it only in 1975. Hmm...maybe I should have it say that the embezzeling only started in 1974?

Various very small-scale and limited ops, I assume. With the disaster that was Operation Desert Bear, the NAM would want to keep them on a short leash. The specifics are unimportant.

As for the 1991-2010s gap - I assume the Taskforce wasn't dissolved the very day the Soviet Union fell, so that fills in part of the 90s at least, and then it took a while to gradually and inconspicuously rebuild it and get support and funding to bring it to the state it is in now.

...maybe. I'm not trying to complain...I'm just, like I said...trying to reconcile some things just to have things be all tied up and pretty, while still fitting in with history. There are just some massive tiime gaps that have to be explained.

Please read my revision for Director Kundert and let me know if you think it helps or makes it worse.

Also...your bio mentions concern about "1962 happening all over again." If you were fresh 18 year old recruit in 1962...do you realize that makes your character 68 years old?

That would be consistent with my latest revision:

"With the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, the Taskforce no longer served any purpose, and was soon dissolved.

However, Kristopher anticipated this, and immediately upon his appointment began embezzling and hiding away Taskforce assets in offshore warehouses and accounts. In 1995, just a few short years after its dissolution he formally left the Non-Aligned Movement and retired to the Bahamas. Knowing that he would be monitored by both the Non-Aligned Movement as well as intelligence agencies of various superpowers, he very carefully maintained the appearance of complete lack of interest in world affairs,"

"In 2001, the attack on the World Trade Center finally prompted Kristopher to come out of retirement and return to the world stage. Returning home to Switzerland, he spent the next several years consolidating his powerbase and using his embezzled millions to establish facilities and train operatives. Operatives loyal not merely to a government, or to some questionable philosophical idea, but rather, loyal to him alone. He named this organization Taskforce #11."

...but, that creates a 15 year discrepancy with Micelus's character. Unless...it was a totally different Director who was embezzling funds in 1975? That could work.

It works and seems better than the old one, although all judgments are up to DH of course. I would assume however that the leadership of the Taskforce were harshly reprimanded for the failure of the Operation and its targets, although the Director might have escaped unscathed due to him lacking responsibility for the fiasco.
