The direwolves come running as soon as their cages open. Amroth shoots lightning as usual as an opening move, but misses his mark (as usual). The team's direwolves collides with a feral one, and quickly gains the upper hand. The enemy beast is brought to the ground, and Ishar's beast claws and bites the living hell out of it. Ishar himself reaches a wolf, but fails in his initial charge, and the direwolf manages to bite his leg. The hydra leather leggings protect him somewhat, but not much - the bite of the direwolf is still a serious wound. Sir fares much better. When he clashes with the first direwolf, he manages to hit it in the head, scoring an instant kill for the team. A second wolf is upon him, but he manages to avoid that one as well. The alpha charges in to help its injured pack member against the team's own direwolf, but somehow blows it, and Ishar's wolf kills the injured one.
Amroth casts gust of wind, that heals Ishar enough to barely get back on his feet, but enrages the alpha, that attacks the mage instantly, jumping at his throat, and succeeding brutally: the team's mage is down. Sir tries to take down another wolf, but stumbles for a moment. His enemy doesn't use that chance to its full potential, but still manages to claw his arm a bit. The alpha and the team's direwolf tangle together, roll on the floor for a bit, but the advantage is obvious, and the pack leader kills its opponent fairly easily. The other remaining direwolf attacks Sir again, and now it's a brutal hit: the beast jumps at him, the dwarf is knocked back, and hits his head on a rock. Sir loses consciousness, and now the injured Ishar is alone.
The wolves gang up on him ,and while he manages to land a few desperate hits, the beasts take him down in the end.
Bugger. Quite a lesson in hubris I guess.
(Note: upgrade chain is copper-bronze-iron-steel-adamantine, so Celeborn only has iron claws now. I didn't notice that last time.)
Radaghast starts the fight with a quick multi-heal, bringing Celeborn and himself to their original strenght. Thranduil fires an arrow, killing one of the incoming tigers instantly. Celeborn is the frontman as usual, and he sinks his claws into the first tiger that reaches him, incapacitating the beast with a single blow. He doesn't manage to evade the next one however, and he takes a solid hit to his chest. The two other tigers seperate, aiming for a combatant each. Thranduil fires at this one as well, but misses this time, and the tiger lounges at him. It succeeds to bring him down, and would finish the elf off immediately, if itweren't for Radaghast's intervention: he fires an ice ball, that doesn't actually hit, but draws the tiger's attention to the wizard. Now two of the tigers aim for Radaghast, but they are blocked by the team's alpha direwolf. The huge wolf bites the first tiger in the neck, and throws it away like a ragdoll. The other one pauses for a moment, that's enough for Thranduil to shoot it in the back, but the ranger passes out from the blood loss right after that shot. Celeborn manages to wrestle free from the third tiger's grasp, and now all three remaining tigers are severely injured.
Radaghast quickly heals Celeborn, and the fighter follows the direwolf into a brutal melee with the tigers. After a quick exchange of blows, two of the three tigers are down, and Radaghast finishes off the last one with an ice ball.
That's 500 gold, nice job. Thranduil is injured, and starts the fight with half HP - that's actually not much of a penalty with a capable healer on the team.
Mog starts the fight with his trademark flamethrower, but the direwolves shrug off most of it - maybe it would be time to study it more in depth? Cadmus hits his mark with the first arrow, scoring a solid first strike at one of the direwolves. The beast trips, and falls to the ground temporarily, but the other one reaches the fighters. It claws Cadmus's leg, the ranger falls to his knee, and fails to do anything about it. Mog tries to help him, but his firebolt misses, and the direwolf finishes off Cadmus. Seeing his teammate fall, Mog fires another firebolt in unprecedented rage, slaying the killer direwolf. The other one is back in the game however, but it only manages to limp towards Mog, and the firemage notices in time to fire another, albeit weaker blast. Combined with the serious arrow wound however, it is enough to bring down the other beast as well.
300 gold, plus Mog's firebolt gets an upgrade, bringing it to level 3. Cadmus is dead, you can pay 150 gold to have him resurrected by the priests of Armok, but you need to do this in three turns.
Tyd opens the fight with a totally botched shot, completely missing the goblin. The little evil bastard tries to attack Ettad, but the fighter swats him away with a shield bash. Tyd fires another bolt, missing again. Ettad now feels a bit embarrassed by his teammate1s inability to do anything properly, and tries to show how it's done. He fails hilariously at that, as he can't manage to hit the nimble goblin with three repeated strikes. The goblin even manages to counter, hitting him in the shin. Tyd now gets his shit together, and finally scores a hit with his crossbow. Ettad uses this to his advantage, and bashes the goblin's skull in with his axe. The fight is over, but both of the fighters feel liek they could have done much better.
You gain 80 gold, and bad luck just seems to follow you into every fight.
War-training special animals like the alpha costs the same as it would cost with the normal ones, so it's 600 gold in your case.
