The powers stay the heck off, though. I don't particularly like them myself and am contemplating pretending they never happened.

They do, however, provide a legitimate reason for the meds besides making Camille slightly less crazy.

Just sayin', in Bryan/Kwyk's home 'verse, the Torikan (Well, at least the females) have a reputation for being basically death on legs. Really, the only reason they haven't conquered all of known space is that they can't stop fighting long enough to form an unified force (The region of space they dominate is broken up into countless petty empires, few spanning more than a couple systems), and their preference for fighting ground-based battles.
