Late autumn (major) update:
While the ice wolf corpses were chasing an elf merchant and his donkey around, I noticed sand walls.
Remember this ass-tooth-plosion? Those are the sand walls you're looking for.
Anyway, I decided to get some sand to round out our furnace operations. We have metal smelting and smithing operations, clay baking operations, so adding glassmaking to that mix should be a pretty good bet. I send NAV out to tunnel through ice to get to the sand.
After the elves came in summer, I wondered if anyone else would turn up to trade. Surprise surprise, someone came!
They were greeted by the local wilddead.
After they dispatched the wilddead, I opened the front door to let them in. Someone came sneaking in with them..
The human macemen (and macewomen) gave the kobolds a good pounding, killing one and chasing the other two away. However, this being a self-raising biome, the dead kobold came back and found its way into the main meeting area. The militia was raised to get rid of it.
Once it was punched to death, the first proper run of the magma-based corpse disposal system was tested out.
Garbage dump on hatch at -124, linked to lever at -60. Throw garbage in, pull lever, bye bye corpse.
After trading some leather and lots of meat and berries to us in exchange for some earthenware trinkets and dimple dye, the humans left. On the way out, the local wilddead brought reinforcements.
Undead list after the humans left:
Anyway, time for some cheerier news: Nix and NAV got married!
