Crutch-walking help!
« on: October 15, 2012, 06:59:30 pm »

Playing my heavily modded DF, my Leechman adventurer's party of 3 got in a tangle with some bears. The other party members got killed, and I got my tail ripped off and a motor nerve severed in my left hand. One of the bears was badly injured, one was given into pain, and I somehow managed to kill mine in my crippled state and escaped to a town.

Leechmen use their tails to stand, so I'm the equivalent of a human with two missing legs and one bum arm. I went to the general store, bought a crutch and equipped it in my right hand along with my sword. But when I hit s, my character still won't stand up. The wiki says that with the crutch equipped, I should be able to stand. I -am- gaining crutch-walker skill by crawling around with the crutch equipped, but i'm still can't stand.

Is there some trick to using crutches? Or is this just due to being a Leechman and Leechmen can't use crutches for some obscure anatomical reason?

I think for 'both legs' missing, you'd need two crutches. Which, with the bum arm....

Losing is fun!

Although, I don't see why it shouldn't work by having two crutches AND the sword in one hand... Come on, you're already a leech man, you don't need no logic.

I see... time to try out two crutches and see if that works.

EDIT: 2 crutches, both in the one hand. Still can't stand. Looks like Leechmen were never meant to walk among the legged races of the world.

I wonder what is a leechman-based moose-like mosnter is like. Is it half leech, half man and half moose, or something much scarier?

Note. I said two crutches, not two crutches in one hand. How would two crutches in one hand solve anything?
