It was more ingenious in Dungeon Master or Eye of the Beholder, thirty years ago.

I don't remember it in either of those games... hmm...

I'm hype. Cleve never left the 90's era internet speak from the look of his video. Was it ironic?

Bringing this back from the dead, as Cleve's posted a new video (top post in this thread, ignore the Hungarians) as an alleged warm-up to a Steam Greenlight campaign.

I'm just here because 4+ year necros are interesting but... Is he aware that Steam Greenlight is dead? Like, Valve killed it dead?

(why the hell is the inventory one long Lands of Lore-style row in the middle of the screen, as opposed to individual character inventories?

OHH GAWD! if he had to keep fidelity to games of the time why did he have to chose that?

What next? Lack of item descriptions? Magic that doesn't tell you what it is or what it does leading you to guessing?

Has anyone got a backup?

I tried to play chess but two of my opponents were playing competitive checkers as a third person walked in with Game of Thrones in hand confused cause they thought this was the book club.

I thought (granted I didn't think long on it) I was the only one  :D

It's finally over. Cleveland Mark Blakemore is a man of his word.

Oh I believe there was another thread for the game?

Mildly interesting due to the unique backstory - not in the game but on the development of the game - but Steam reviews seem to say the game is too unstable to play?

I'll just be over here enjoying my Etrian Oddessy instead.

(But yeah i'd be more interested if elminage gothic hadn't reminded me that most wizardry successors do nothing new and kep the annoying bits-example Elminage keeping character aging and having that terrible map system. Also this game is 40$ and I already ordered Etrian V, which actually is doing some new things with the genre. Still might pick this up if it gets cheap, along with all those psuedo wizardry vita games that keep coming to steam.)

If not under Neotemplar look for Vellum.

Other than being hard, any other feedback about what it's like? I don't mind hard, but I do mind annoying and obtuse - a lot of steam reviews are very positive, but all say it's a bit confusing.

With enough work and polish, it could have been a forgettable flash game on Kongregate.

I've never even heard of this until today, when it showed up on Steam. The discussion forums are even less helpful than usual and I don't know what to make of the reviews.

Needless to say I am bemused.

From what I've heard from friends, there is a ton of crashing and the game overall feels like an unfinished beta, at least in the first two to four hours. Apparently an e-war between the game's ultrafans and anti fans occurred somewhere on the review or forum, so I'm not sure if I can take them as an example of the game's quality.

A lot of the criticism is related to the fact that the developer is a member of the fringe alt-right with everything that entails. A strong argument could be made that this shouldn't affect one's impression of the game itself--which is absolutely true as far as it goes--but personally the game could be a complete masterpiece and I'm still not going to put money into the developer's pocket.

Does the alt-right agenda show in the game somehow? That certainly kills my interest in the game for same reasons, although it doesn't necessarily mean that the game is bad. Stardock's bossman being a sexually harassing asshole comes to mind.

Looking through the reviews, vast majority of the negative ones mention only gameplay issues though.
