Unless you also give them the "opposed to life" tag so that the embark immediately devolves into all seven dwarves engaging each other in eternal combat, burninating the countryside and all its life. The first two hardcoded migrant waves only add to the !!Fun!!

I like the number-changing options. The only difference between the doctored raws and the original ones is a bunch of numbers that a newbie will find hard to interpret. So...

*make dwarves really small (already suggested)
*change material raws to make all metals bar adamantine much, much heavier and much less protective.
*change melting points of all rock to make it non-magma-safe.
*change the default worldgen options to make temperatures more extreme, and the world more hostile in general. Nothing too crazy, just make sure every world has high minimum savagery, plenty of curses and opportunities for towers to spring up, plenty of evil biomes, and some areas that are too hot or cold to have any traders turn up.
*lower the shoot force and max velocity of crossbows and remove them from the equipment list of all other races, thus making them use only (unaltered) bows.

Ideas that remove entries and tags are useful too, as a newbie won't be able to tell what's missing.

This sounds cool to do deliberately, but I've yet to find an accessible guide that'll teach me how to mod my game to make things more dangerous like this. Links, anybody?
