Nope, go ahead.  It's nothing to hold up a round over.

The year of the Pancreator 5000! It would be another thousand years before such a milestone touched fledgling Humanity, a time to live, a time to prosper.

A time to blow things up.

Saladin flitted the channels on his viewer while partaking in yet another rare indulgence, this time a rather sour tasting turtle species native to Gwynneth, long thought extinct. The day had been spent enjoying the festivities and watching the ever scheming Noble families on Istakhr try to outdo each others celebrations. But it was Saladins own fireworks that outshone them all. Holovids displaying the firepower of the (worryingly) aptly named Violator Assault Gun firing into dilapidated ruins on the far coast caught everyone's attention.

Soon it would be time to deploy them against the unknowable Vau.

"I'll have to remind them to record the battles in orbit. Would make quite a show."

Nobody cared about what house Li Halan did for the year 5000 festivities.  The members of the house tried to tell anyone in earshot about the "transcendentally spiritual" experience they had on their pilgrimage out into the deserts of Kish but whenever they started people suddenly remembered pressing engagements elsewhere.  So the deeds of the year 5000 were not much remembered.

The deeds of the year 5001 were slightly more memorable.  That was when Lady Octavia strolled into the Imperial Senate and informed the other houses that Li Halan forces were at Vera Cruz, preparing an invasion of Tethys.  So long as the renegade Decados refused to abide by the rules of the imperium Li Halan considered all their worlds forfeit.

The Decados and Li Halan have been at war for tens of thousands of years...

Let it be known that any expansion of the current war beyond Cadavus will put all Li Halan holdings and men at risk. This includes but is not limited to their crusaders in the Symbiot worlds.

So the renegade who has placed herself outside the Imperium announces her intention to invade the territory that is still loyal to imperial law.  I can hardly say I'm surprised.  Nor can I say that I'm intimidated.

Know this though.  At this time I have no intention of exterminating your bloodline.  I launched a single retaliation against your family for their assassination of those not on the field of battle.  If you take further action against the who are actual fit to bear the title of noble I can be expected to respond in kind.  I even have some rather zealous inquisitors from the church who have seen the righteousness of those who wish to fight symbiot, not man.  They are capable of making your final moments quite unpleasant should it come to that.

Man, the Inquisitors should have 100% loyalty. It's ridiculous how little effort it requires to undermine their zeal.

There's something genuinely disturbing about players going out of their way to capture Inquisitors.  On the one hand I feel like I'm getting left behind in an arms race here, but on the other, how dangerous can they really be?

Yeah I know I'm holding up the turn again, I was all set to do it last night but stuff came up, and now I'm having more trouble with my EOFS computer.  I'll be done shortly with any luck.

EDIT: Okay there, it's sent.  Man I got ripped off on this laptop.

Inquisitors are a good unit but they're not that great and they aren't going to be captured in sufficient numbers to make a huge difference.  I'm more interested in them from a roleplay perspective (elements of the church side with me against the patriarch) then from a battle standpoint.

Inquisitors are irrelevant in the grand scheme of war. There will be too many extremely powerful units, and plenty of them, for an inquisitor here or there to have any impact. They do look pretty awesome though. Of course one has to wonder why the extremist Avestites are joining the heretical Li Halan to oppose an otherwise more moderate Orthodox sect... some kind of warlock sorcery no doubt.

They are motivated by the appalling amorality of our enemies no doubt.

Everyone is Orthodox, it doesn't make any sense anyway.  Besides, the Decados are canonically Eskatonics, and nobody trusts those guys.

Going by what little I know of EOFS lore.

All of which I know from the in-game archive.  And the implications of the obviously "sneaky" House and the Guild starting off full of Eskatonic units.

If anything is to be said of the Inquisition of the Urth Orthodox Church, it is tenacious.

Not long after first gracing the orbit of Artemis with their presence, a second and even more potent Fleet bearing the flame of the Avestite Order broadcast the usual mixture of obscenities, scripture and Holy warning. But what surprised the Captain of the Giant Slow Moving Target most was that this fleet announced its itinerary through al-Malik space: They were following their brethren through war ravaged Icon and into Vau territory!

Has the Patriarch declared his own Crusade against the aliens? Will the Inquisition righteously purge Midian and Vau? Would the Church Fleet ignore the Crusade for a Human target?

One thing was for certain, thought the Merchant Captain, he was glad it wasn't his problem.

=======================================================================

Once again the Church surprises me, and I continue to curse the terrifying close combat strength of Symbiot shufflers.

Also, while the Palace of the al-Malik on Byzantium Secundus may have sacrificed a "few" luxuries for the sake of security, they in fact showcase some of the most sublime artistic murder holes and gun ports you will ever find short of the Imperial Citadel itself.
