I know as well as anyone the pleasure of carefully getting every little thing right in your strategy but if people maintain this pace the game is gonna die from inactivity.

While I would love to have a steady pace of at least one turn per day, I think it's unreasonable to expect that to happen with any sustainable consistency.
All things considered, I think we're doing pretty well, with the delays being not that frequent, and never longer than a couple of days, maybe three on a bad month.

Of course, I understand your eagerness to see the turn, as with a major war going on the anxiety and expectation can get into you something fierce.

I expect the game to eventually die from inactivity unless it goes on for a very long time. That has been my experience in almost every EFS game I have ever played. Once we're just dealing with hundreds upon hundreds of cities and units, dozens of important decisions, strategy that takes a lot of consideration, huge unit queues, our turns can take 90-120 minutes easily, if not longer. That can become hard to fit in compared to the breezy starts of all these EFS games. Even now I don't bother to micromanage my resources as much as I could just because of how time consuming one can make EFS. That's why the idea of the GM'd game sounds appealing to me, because it might be able to be designed in such a way that the game doesn't become bogged down into eternally long turns.

Personally I'm having the amount of micromanaging decrease.  At the start I was eager to expand as quickly as possible and establish an industrial base.  Now that base is set up, I don't need to squeeze out every unit of iron for more engineers, I have abundant iron to spare.  So now that my resource chains are established I just pay attention to my macro military strategy.

Since I seem to be eternally behind everyone else, every turn is still micromanagment hell for me.  I have to come up with useful orders for at least a half-dozen new engineers a turn and keep my transport pony express system busy.  Y'know, as long as we're all divulging trade secrets and what not.

Don't get me started on why I haven't had a turn out in a few days, I'm just glad I got it done at all, at 1AM on a work night.  Not to mention the computer I have to use for EOFS is having some serious problems.  That's what I get for buying a "manager's special".

Turn sent obviously.

(Turn sent.)

It was not surprising to see pilgrims on the space lanes to Holiest of Urth, but what the Captain of the troop transport Giant Slow Moving Target saw over Artemis was a whole different bag of spice worms.

"WE COME WITH FIRE TO- oh wait, we aren't there yet."

"Uh, can I help you most noble Inquisitor?"

"DABBLE NOT IN FORBIDDEN ARTS, OR WE WILL HANG YOUR LANDS AND SALT YOUR SCIENTISTS!"

"Don't you mean-"

"IT MATTERS NOT WHAT WE MEAN. FAREWELL, WE GO TO OUR HOLY WORK!"

And with that the Avestite Warships jumped away.

"I'm glad I'm not the poor sops they're targeting," muttered the Good Captain.

======================================================

I agree with Kebooo, my micromanaging has slowly turned into Microsoft Logistics: Fading Suns Edition with getting the myriad resource bins from production to starport. It is nice that I finally can build shiny troops now though.

I'd storytime about my Palace Guards being too afraid to move outisde my Palatial Estates on Byzantium Secundus because "I'm sure there's something out there." too but one is enough for anyone to groan at so:

Could the owner of the Invisible units at Parking Lot 5A and the adjacent 5B next to the Yellow Palace on the Capital World kindly move their vehicle or tell me what's so interesting over there that my units cannot patrol for vagrants?

I'd hate to think its funny business.

Turn sent:

The invisible troops are mine.  I sent troops to Byzantium expecting a tough fight to evict Keboo and much to my surprise, his palace was practically empty.  I have no transports to remove the troops however, as I had already sent them away before the fight and I have more pressing logistical concerns elsewhere.  So now I've assigned them to conduct drills on the parade grounds of the imperial palace for my amusement.

Despite what Lord Mainiac claims, the troops occupying the parking space near the al-Malik "palace" on Byzantium II are in fact the brave boys of our dear Regent's.
Of course, whose lots are these, exactly, has been a continuous source of argument between the commuters working at the forts belonging to the two neighbouring houses, ever since the ban on streetside parking.

It's the blind fervor of Hazat scholars, whose zealous desire to expunge the Vau devils from the human space, coupled with the apocalyptic prophecies sprouting like a symbiot parasite's tentacles from an infected body, which has led them to forget, or maybe disregard, the Patriarch's nay-saying.
Hopefully, the chaos of the fiftieth millenium shall abate a little before the Church's mighty hosts arrive with their ultimate arguments.

Stand firm in your faith Lord Hazat.  Those who would take up the shield of humanity and stand against the darkness will shine through history with the light of righteousness.

And so the galaxy lurches onward into the sixth millennium.  The sixth millennium since what I fear has been lost forever to history.  The first recognition of the Pancreator?  How benighted these houses that I must even ask.  Yet an auspicious day indeed, for the first elements of a united humanity, a human I might yet unite for more than twenty five years, approaches a threat to its very soul.

Turn sent, although I should warn you Margrave that I kinda spaced on a pending trade question so I might wind up asking to redo my turn.  Hopefully I'll know in short order.

I did not get a trade offer from you if that's what you are talking about. So if you want to redo the turn that's fine, I'm up for awhile. And I'll just delete the one you sent.
