Yeah, Margrave still maintains his honor. The rest of us have done something disreputable and censured at one point or another. And I'm sure it was immensely satisfying for each of us to do. What I find most amusing is that Aqizzar declared himself emperor a long time ago and it was kind of just swept under the rug from a role playing perspective. Even now he's still the would-be emperor.

Bah, that was revenge.  Vendetta totally doesn't count.

I'm just saying that it really doesn't convey things to paint us with the same brush.  I lose a noble and three relics to treachery, in exchange I kill a noble that Keboo hadn't even bothered to protect.  Not exactly an unprovoked sneak attack.  It's not like I'd promised to treat him with kid gloves if he kicked me in the family jewels.

Of course, but isn't our judgment of what constitutes honor up for debate? I'm first threatened over my peaceful colonization of Tethys and then Cadavus is jointly colonized with a belligerent house without so much as a word. One might say my unilateral taking of Tethys was dishonorable or your taking cities right from under me when I had completely whittled them down already
was. It made me smirk when everyone was painting it as if you had so valiantly defeated the units inside these cities, when there were almost none left at all thanks to me. I couldn't say anything though because I had used the Garrison to do it and didn't want to lose control. So I was just acting in revenge for that dishonor. There is plenty of room for moralizing here. But Margrave, on the other hand, seems to have a completely clean record at the moment. Perhaps he should be emperor.

All in due time, I prefer to take the long view.

Then again I'm not exactly spotless myself, there was that business of the stalemate vote. And the payment for that stalemate vote. I was tempted to just let this claim pass and let the lesser senators ((our dear readers)) assume that I'm a paragon of virtue and stylish shoes but this is a good time to reflect.

Oh yes, how could I forget that kind of blackmail! I think I pushed that completely out of my mind. So be it, everyone is tainted.

Okay, first let me apologize for taking so long to get back to the game.  To spare you crap that's nobody's business but mine, my life has been slowly falling apart for a few months, and this weekend was no exception.

I wasn't exactly looking forward to playing EoFS again, because I knew there'd be a million decisions waiting for me.

Then I found out three of my nobles are dead, my homeworld is essentially already captured by forces that for the life of me I can't understand how they got there, and there's basically shit all I can about that or anything.

Let me make myself clear: I'm not mad.  I'm damn impressed.  I actually thought there was some slim hope that I could hang on to a position of strength over Byzantium, and even maybe just maybe vote for myself in the next election and somehow eek out a victory by forcing everyone else offworld.  I was sorely sorely mistaken, and Palazzo if you'd be so kind I'd love to know how you got those kind of forces onto Delphi since there's no stealth transports in the game.  You bid your time for strength excellently, and I half-roleplayed half-seriously hoped myself right into the ground.

But the fact remains that I am at a complete loss for what to do now.  I have three nobles overlooking some ramshackle collections of cities that could be wiped out about as fast as Delphi, one player has a gargantuan force on Byzantium that will easily demolish Margrave's fort there, and now has two players worth of votes besides.  I have nothing, literally nothing, I could reclaim Delphi with while it still matters, and Palazzo will very soon control everything I had there.

To top it all off the only computer I have that can play this game seems like its falling the pieces.  The couple times I played, I had to redo my turns after it stuttered and crashed.

My ability to effect the outcome of this game is basically over, and if I can be frank Palazzo's already won.  I think I've aptly demonstrated that I don't really have the time or patience to play it, and I have now been masterfully defeated.  If anyone really wants me to I'll try to throw in a perfunctory turn until it's over, or turn my faction over to another player.  It's been tons of fun and I loved watching you guys pull some genuinely cool moves on each other, but I'm pretty much ready to concede victory.

I think Palazzo can still be defeated, and if so, your lands reclaimed and more. He only has two relics and can't get the third. My industrial base is just finally hitting its stride with a swarm of dreadnoughts and archangels just about to finish. I also have enough DNA assault legions to have a constant stream of them flooding into Byzantium. This says nothing of Margrave's untouched forces and anything mainiac might throw in.  A lot can happen in more than 10 years, and that's what it would take for him to clinch his victory. He has made some shrewd moves, but to become emperor you should at least withstand the last wild flurry of the other houses that want to stop you. If playing the turn is becoming too much of a burden or time sink, we might be able to find some replacement that would like to see some "end game" EFS being played.
