Calm the Hell down, this is why I wanted people to do Turn Sent bumps, because I didn't realize Kebooo had sent me the turn.  Not that I would have been able to get it out sooner than yesterday anyway.

A heavy air hangs over the royal palace, chill even for Delphi.  Events have been set in motion that cannot be undone, and about the throne lie missives with the taint of desperation.

Another brief spell of unity may come to the Empire at last.  And with unity, war.

Turns out.

All hail the new Regency! May it bring Galactic Peace and Order to our fractious species. At least until the next vote.

It seems the regent didn't assign any of the offices.

Turns gonna be slow from me.  I've got a really bad flu and am too tired to play the game intelligently.

I spared only a moment to look back across the great garden plain before the walls of the Imperial City.  A procession of resounding ceramsteel and fluttering azure, arms polished and high, but a paltry showing before the mile trains of days passed into history.

The Lord Marshal made clear the terms of his service, as great a formality as my journey to the Mezzanine of the Regent.  It is the greatest irony and mystery of the Imperium that the mightiest army in the galaxy must lay at rest within a palatial garrison, a legion with no commander waiting upon standing orders now lifetimes old, as the enfeebled and backwards militias of the Noble Houses wage endless battles for wasted worlds.  Every man within these walls would give his life to defend mine, but will answer to absolutely no order.  The Lord Marshal is as political an animal as any other, but was elected for his lack of ambition as every before him.  There could be no greater threat than the legion empowered of its own.

He even so recognizes the magnitude of the occasion, the first Marshal in a generation to deliver such a warning.  But first in memory to deliver it to a Regent-Elect who failed to appoint a single arm of Imperial Office to himself.  Such is the state of the Imperium, that friends could come at such a high price.

So yeah, turn sent.  Also, wow check that out I got elected and didn't keep one office for myself.  Funny ol' world, ain't it?

Not really, unless it's a bug.  It's better to be in the nominal leader of the power hierarchy than to be the one left in the cold.

Speaking of which, who got the short straw (for the benefit of the viewers back home, so to speak)?  I expect they'll be marginalized, and they have my sympathy.

It seems the marginalized party was Saladin.  My condolences.

Also, turn sent.

If there was anyone who needed a Ministry the least, it'd be me since I'm so far away from everything. I wouldn't even be able to properly "utilize" resources from Byzantium before the next election.

Not that I would ever say no to being the Fleet Admiral.

Well, at least your proximity will keep anyone from harassing you with their newfound ministry for most of their tenure, at which point you can expose them and maybe take it upon yourself.

But you might want to "quarantine" the Imperial Eye, just in case.  By "quarantine", I mean surround the hex(s) with your units so no sneaky spies can get a free look-see of your home.

I, of course, have nothing to hide from the Empire or its Intelligence Services if they have need to observe me. I have always been, and always will be, a loyal servant to the reigning Emperor.

Besides spies aren't so expensive that you can't monitor them monitoring you monitoring them.

Spies can also be lifted to anywhere on the planet via landers.
