Having the Patriarch actually do something/mean something would be a welcome addition. That and the League, if it ever accepted a deal then embargoing another House may very well cripple an enemy if timed right. Especially in a game that has an Agora on every world.

Game just crashed on me for the third fucking time.  I'm giving up for now and getting to it tonight.

That's my greatest fear while playing EFS. I remember playing an hour long turn and then I wanted to check the cities screen to find starports that had nothing under construction, so it crashed when I tried. Such a sickening feeling.

One by one they fell. The Decados and Hazat soldiers, through mutual hatred, had begun to respect one another. At least that is the feeling they had as they went to their graves. Alone, atop the ruins of the great battle, stood the Hazat battlemaster. When he is brought out to be flayed and his entrails torn from his stomach, not one Decados soldier will forget his face and his valiant stand. Most will have forgot Gorakhan's young cousin who died in the battle.

(And I had nothing else to attack him with this turn...so there he sits, all by himself, waiting)

If he survives until my turn I could totally bring a noble in to duel him 1 on 1.

That wouldn't be a fair fight. He's wounded, you see. Perhaps you'll allow him to recuperate first. I think, oh I don't know, six years of convalescence ought to do the trick.

You right, it wouldn't be a fair fight.  I'll just execute him then.

Turn sent.  My hunt for Hazat noblemen turned up bupkis so far, but they can only hide for so long.

So we're finally winding down to the last 5 turns. I must say my handling of space combat is rather poor and by the time that I do manage to field something remotely threatening I'm almost out of time to utilize it. I definitely will do things differently if there is ever a next time.

Like changing my military doctrine from Space Russia to active participant. I was SO sure that I was going to be invaded at some point and spent an enormous number of resources fortifying border worlds and arranging Istakhr into space defense grids.

I've only built three star bases in this game, and they were all at Cadavus, used to destroy mainiac's transports. I feel as though they're useful on worlds like that, but I find mobility is usually better. I'd rather get the hell out of somewhere and fight another day than lose everything on a world I have to abandon.

I applied your model to Vril-Ya, and it accomplished exactly nothing.  Namely because Starbases are pretty much just slightly more powerful Destroyers, so a couple supported Cruisers can blow them away quite easily.

If I was to play another game... Well, my first act would be requesting a map where I'm not bottled between three players.  More importantly, I would not screw around with capturing capitols and go straight to building up Energy and Trace as fast as possible with a strong Freighter system.

"The lady Dragana of Li Halan I presume?"
"You may."
"How sporting of you to face me on the field of battle alone."
"Oh I would hardly call it sporting!  That implies a fair fight."
A single gunshot rang out amid the rubble of the destroyed city block.  "You took the words right out of my mouth."  The battlemaster walked over to the woman lying with a bullet hole in her forehead and raised his blade.  As the old saying goes, only an idiot doesn't make sure.
The downward stab never came though.  Instead the figure fell in place.  Then a neatly severed head gently fell to earth as the corpse collapsed.  Lady Dragana of Li Halan then hacked the corpse with surgical precision.  Only an idiot doesn't make sure.  The prone woman got up and stood before Dragana.  They would be identical to the smallest detail were it not for the gunshot wound.

---------

And then the game crashed and that totally got undone.
