Temperature changes under constructs?
« on: October 12, 2012, 04:30:28 am »

So I embarked on an freezing tundra with an aquifier because I had decided that I wanted to dig through it. Using the fact that channeling down freezes the water coming out of the aquifier. This creates walls of ice blocking more water coming out. After a huge hole being dug out and several years of digging and tantrum spirals (due to miners getting frozen to death when they randomly walked into the aquifier pits who then where instantly frozen), Ive finaly gotten through the 7 layer aquifier in this fashion.

However now I got a gaping hole in my fort, which leads to several questions.

Can I build floor tiles above to shut the giant hole or will that eventually thaw the ice walls in the hole? If so will a glass floor prevent thawing from happening?

Once it's been exposed to the surface, it'll still remain frozen regardless of how many layers there are above it until the biome itself warms up. Since it's a frozen tundra, that probably won't be a problem.
