Also, think I'm leaning mildly towards New Economy and away from High Stakes. Not sure how I feel about Damage Roulette, though as far as I've seen explosive damage is still static.

Oh, maybe it is. I haven't had damage on since the Second Wave options became official, so they may have changed that. When you had to mod them in I know that the explosion damage was also random.

I'm cool with people getting random stats. Sure, some people's characters will be better than others, but we'll just have to roleplay it.

Well, what would you rather have, people feeling as though they have no control over what their guys are, or people competing for the best soldiers? Either way is not perfect.

(As for my opinion, I'd say I'm leaning towards competition, but only because I think it's the lesser sacrifice).
I'm personally for random assignment. After all, what's better than going to battle with a troupe of all 40/40s?

I think assignment should simply be based on the order of people requesting a spot versus the order of soldiers on the list. Like, first person to post gets the last  soldier on the list, or the other way around. That way there's no finagling with random-number generators or rolling dice to worry about, and it will be interesting to see which soldiers will be the lucky ones.

So the general consensus seems to be random assignment, with at least a medium drift towards intentional badness for those interested.

Any opinions on the other options? I'm still not sure on Damage Roulette and still think I want New Economy and nothing else, but I could probably be swayed on any of those.

Honestly, although I haven't tried it yet, I'm leaning slightly away from having Damage Roulette for an LP. But that's just my opinion.

Damage Roulette makes things slightly more exciting, especially when fighting Chryssalids. But there isn't any particular reason to use it unless you want an extra challenge.

After playing around with it for a while, I believe I've officially decided against Damage Roulette. I like some aspects of it, but this "Sniper hits Muton for 1, Muton crits Beloved Veteran for 16" stuff has got to stop. ಠ_ಠ

Which I suppose means we have all our options (Not Created Equal, Hidden Potential, New Economy). I think I'll cover base location in the actual thread, which means we're just waiting on me to create it.

I'll post a link here when I do.
