http://vimeo.com/53745615  Video of "pre-pre-alpha" content.  Still buggy, but still pretty impressive.  Apparently the lasers had a bug and were moving too slow.  This is pretty impressive.

So we broke the 5milion, the video is shockingly jaw-breakingly nice. Just to wait all it all pan out in the end tho.

DF doesn't mold players into its image - DF merely selects those who were always ready for DF.

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?

Whats the first thing your going to do in game? And then whats your plan? Personally, bar brawl in the mended drum, and if possible, stealing a spaceship from someone who could do without it FOR A LIFE OF BOUNTY SLAYING CREWMATES (or death)

Shit. The bay12 space program might actually have a chance for a trial run, what with the planned player created ships and added systems. We need MORE PLANNING!

Probably gonna go pirate/bounty hunter. In the smallest, fastest ship possible that can be played as an old school PT boat IN SPAAAAAACE.

because PT boats dont get enough love

I think they got 6 mill... I am unsure though because their main page is just showing a victory/maintenance page and not a total.
Edit: $6,237,708

By comparison, from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kickstarter
3    3,986,929    Project Eternity
Was the largest other game with funds raised for it ($2,134,374 on kickstarter for this, the rest via their own page, so it won't make the top 10 just on that page BUT it will have raised a lot more... especially considering no kickstarter off-the-top for most of it)

That's awesome for them. I hope it really does give them the chance to make their everything-for-everyone game that they're trying for. Time will tell, however I do agree, it's hard to wait two years for the end results.

*Didn't read the whole thread*

I cannot support this because it pretty blatantly doesn't support me.  There's no possible way I'd be able to run anything similar to this on my computer.  THIS is why the computer market was declared dead, really.  The 'good' games are too graphics heavy for anyone to play unless they invest in a great computer.  Consoles are very nice because you know your game will work when you put the disk in.  Computers always suffer because they make the game massive and then the majority of users can't even run it.  You want to make the computer franchise work again?  Make things that people can actually use!

I really hope I will have a job that pays well enough so I can buy a computer in two years. :D Need to finish university before that, though.

I think that is not the problem though, at least not anymore. It was way worse in the 90s. I can play a lot of newer games on my 4 1/2 years old laptop that was never top of the line. Not with the best graphics, sure. But I really couldn't care less about some smoother edges and cooler lensflares.
