There is but one problem in the no-spawning rule. What tools will the founders of the mountainhome use to build it?

We are doomed. It's just that whatever is going to kill us all just happens to be, from a scientific standpoint, pretty frickin' awesome.

We've already reached the bronze age, and we have a nice village started so far. Two people have split and started their own outpost and we traded some copper for their tin so we could make some more alloy (See outpost trading with the Mountainhome  :D ). Right now we don't really have a carpenter/treefarmer and some things we lack. Like meat, seeds, arrows, and leather. Charcoal we manage thanks to the giant redwood forest nearby, although i'm sure the elves are weeping as those trees will never grow back. We need someone to go out far away and butcher some animals, we can't really kill the ones near the settlement, we will raise them as livestock once Nanoth's massive farm yields some crops after a few days.

One person mentioned something to me about the professions, people wouldn't really be forced into doing that thing forever, they would be able to do what the choose really, although encouraged to do what they signed up to do.

I would love to see dwarves living and spending all their time underground. Could that be achieved with underground mushroom farms?
No.
This mod specifically makes a point that wooden sticks, which are essential for tools, can only be obtained by destroying leaves and sapling drop rates are below sustainable wood farming level.

You are probably right. But information on which trees are above one sapling/tree and which below in neither on the wiki, nor on the official forums. All that is known for sure is that 4-tile thick trees have no saplings at all.

The one with Whitelist. The IP is private as of yet, and unlikely to be given out freely.

For the whitelist server: If we're talking about embark, then why don't we do a real embark?  We decide on what we want to bring, and we tally up the poorly-defined "point value" of each item.  A pickaxe is 200 points, willow sapling is 50 points, white elm sapling is 20 points (for less useful tree), fruit tree saplings are 100 points.  Then players have to manage the resources brought with us and work to find new resources.

Hehe. Like the idea if it keeps the challenge and difficult factor.

Can someone who's on the server tell the owner to check his PMs again? He whitelisted me under a mis-spelt name.

Well, the core difficulty with TFC is scarcity.  You just can't find a lot of stuff.  If a new player can come into the game and bring crops and tools when it's not difficult anymore.  What we need is "just enough to strike the earth" given to us at start.  The game is fundamentally boring at the beginning, let's not kid ourselves, finding the first two ingots is just not fun gameplay.  So, give the server 2 ingots and a fruit sapling and turn your back!

Well, good point, although Nate's server reached the level of development where we can make Bronze (albeit still rarely), and we already have a group that set out to make an outpost.

Good point, I haven't played TFC since hunger was added. How is it? Is it more difficult or..?

Also, is there a way to install Minecraft's files again but in a less difficult to modify place?
