It's uncannily similar to the start of the last game.

Does house Al Malik try to aid and abet rebel houses? What the Vultok representative said at the wake was 2 steps away from admitting they were behind assasinating the Emperor Vladimir. (They're certainly glad about it, the bastards.) And yet for 2 years now Yusara has done nothing. If Al Malik will continue to prevent Hawkwood from taking rightful possession of Leminkainen or Li Halan anti-terrorist detachment from hunting rebel scum until they finally arrive, Al Malik might just get that war.

It is clear that Li Halan has landed troops on the surface of Leminkainen.  The house Al-Malik considers this act of aggression against the houses of Al-Malik and Hawkwood.  We have accordingly moved a blockade in position above the planet of Leminkainen to prevent any further transgressions by Li Halan.

If Li Halan sends a transport with troops to the orbit of Leminkainen again, it will be considered an act of war and the transport will be considered a legitimate target.  If Li Halan sends a transport without troops it will not be considered an act of war.  While we are disappointed that Li Halan has landed troops on Leminkainen we will not take offensive action against those troops at this time.  They may remain on the surface of Leminkainen for the time being so long as no reinforcements are not sent.  A transport may be sent to remove the transgressing troops without fear of destruction.

If Li Halan wishes to take appropriate diplomatic actions to show that the move to Leminkainen is not an act of aggression against the houses of Al-Malik and Hawkwood, we are willing to negotiate about this matter.  However further unilateral action will absolutely not be tolerated.  We have warned you in no uncertain terms.

Edit: Turn sent.

That's the first message that didn't make me snooze. If not for this and a1s's response there wouldn't even be a reason to view this thread as a non-participant.

((Don't know the lore, man, what's this stuff about the wake?))

Am I correct in understanding that Li Halan is now stating that Hawkwood should have rightful possession of Leminkainen?  This is not an unreasonable position to take.  However Hawkwood hasn't even gone so far as to stake a claim publicly.  Please clarify.

If granted a public claim on Leminkainen House Hawkwood compromises to grant both Great Houses nigh-unrestricted orbital access and presence to Leminkainen and both from and to Byzantium Secundus.

House Hawkwood would also like to note that, in spite of whether its claim on Leminkainen is granted, it has no interest in acquiring or otherwise claiming Aylon and Criticorum. The claim on Leminkainen will only be enforced upon the agreement of all parties involved (Al-Malik, Li-Halan & Hawkwood).

So, I made this for my own nefarious purposes, but I realized other people might want a clean shot of the galaxy map, so here you go.

House al Malik could come to an agreement on this matter but would ask that we be compensate for you taking so long to stake a claim.  We have already deployed troops and our fleet to secure the planet so you are putting us to significant expense.

((Don't know the lore, man, what's this stuff about the wake?))
((Noone does. Well there's a wiki about the tabletop RPG. But I hope we can all agree it's not canonical to our game (especially that part about Alixius Hawkwood winning the Emperor Wars). If you're interested however, Leminkainen is pretty much a Hawkwood fief, I had to scroll halfway down the page to even find a person whose last name wasn't Hawkwood.
If you're further interested, the Vuldrok had nothing to do with the Emperor's death. The 3 main suspects (unofficially, you understand) were Decados, Hazat and the conservative elements within the Church. Though they would probably be glad it happened.
There is however one thing I'd like you to know (because I'll be referring to it): the emperor is dead. Killed in broad daylight (through immolation... yikes!) This is what kicked off the current series of events (not the Leminkainen crisis- I mean the struggle to become the new Emperor of the Fading Suns)
tl;dr: Lore=fluff))

Hi Halan recognizes Hawkwood's claim in hopes of further cooperation. We find pardon of Al Malik's lack of anti-terrorist action (and their suspicious ongoing blockade) to be sufficient payment for this claim.

As I understand it, it's been 400 years since the Emperor's death.

House Hawkwood asks for a report on the amount of troops and ships involved in the effort before making House al-Malik an offer.

You're right (he died in 4550, not 4950- I should read more carefully). I have to wonder what did kick it off (the wiki doesn't say) and why we don't have a Regent for the first 10 years.

I'm guessing the empty Regency is just for the sake of game mechanics, but who knows?

Anyway, here's a prettified galaxy.

House Hawkwood asks for a report on the amount of troops and ships involved in the effort before making House al-Malik an offer.

We sent our starting warships to the planet along with a transport with power armor troops which will have to be retrieved which means having our transport return to the planet.  So basically this invasion ties up our most valuable units for the first four turns.  Additionally renouncing claims on one of the planets closest to our home would be boxing us in.  But we could overlook these matters if Li Halan would agree to renounce all claims to Malignatius.  Seeing as it was their provocation that lead to this whole crisis that doesn't seem too much to ask.
