hey the walk isnt 'that' far.... I was leaving space for more fields once we got more spawn/seeds, plus all the kitchens and stills were going to be on that level too...pfffff some people have no vision......

oh wait, all my dwarves starved to death. I remember now

No worries... it's an easy fix! It's not like you forgot the picks and anvil!

That would be disastrous. A dead fort within the first year, twice even.

Nearly finished with the year, but too tired to write update guys. Sorry for breaking my promise, but finishing my turn and writing the update is my first priority besides sleeping/school.

I'm currently juggling a fucking huge project that is nearly due and posting on here and I'm not even procrastinating.

IT'S JUST THAT IMPORTANT.

2nd of Moonstone
I haven't been able to write in my journal because my pen (along with a plethora of other goods left outside by my careless comrades) was stolen by the local wildlife, mainly keas and monkeys. Luckily I was able to borrow one off of Nepeta, who fancies herself an artist. Since I last wrote a few interesting things have happened. I continued construction of the grand entrance with the two engraved pillars, this time being much more careful about my mining designations. This does not mean that the project was accident-free, however. There are currently two dwarves in the hospital with broken legs, a dwarf called Olin and the so-called "finder of lost goods". We walled off the ground level of the caverns, but we are still wide open to flying cave monsters. One giant cave swallow took advantage of this, and flew up the stairwell to the newly-built bedrooms where it began assaulting dwarves. Luckily, a hunter named Lightninghawk was able to turn the beast into a pincussion for steel bolts before too much damage was done. We also had our first artifact, made by the now-legendary woodcrafter called Urdim Gemwonders. It is a wooden figurine of some long-dead queen, depicting her coronation or something; I was never much into history. I was a bit disconcerted about the lack of a trade caravan in the Autumn, and when I asked around the incoming migrants about our civilization they all replied with "The Brave Mines has no important leaders". Something is certainly up.

OOC: I think our civilization is dead, although it's too early to tell. I didn't get any caravans of any race this whole year, and under civilizations it says we have no leaders (but we are still on the list). We've gotten two migrant waves, so if any more come than I will be disproved. I finished the entrance by shaving off a large portion of the mountain, leaving behind two smoothed/engraved pillars. I also inserted a large drawbridge in the outer wall, but it still has to be linked to a lever (I have one that isn't attached to anything at the bedroom level). I got a bit impatient near the end of the entrance's construction, resulting in the hospitalization of several dwarves. When Winter came 'round, the injured dwarves got dehydrated. At the time I ended my turn, two had died including the Finder of Lost Goods. Because of this, MrsWillsauce began tantruming. She is a trained axedwarf with an iron axe, undoubtedly the most powerful dwarf in the fort (besides maybe Lightninghawk, but if he's not out of bolts already he will be soon), so I locked her in her room. I request that future overseers avoid killing her outright, but her survival should by no means be put above the good of the fort (unless you want it to be). If she does die, I request she be entombed in the sealed-off tomb next to MrWillsauce's steel sarcophagus. Anyway, there are rough times ahead for the fortress, but I don't think any of the problems are terminal. Anyway, really sorry for taking so much time to produce such a lackluster turn. Good luck to you, Objective!

The two Willsauces are descendants of Sankis, aren't they?  :P

Well then I'll try then.

Also I think you need to draw something, probably some angry doodle of burning mountainhomes or something.

Well I thought you were supposed to draw something at the end of turn, but okay.

I'll do some assessment first and will do an update.

1st Granite, 554, Early Spring

Well, I guess a boon has also been a bane. While that annoying Ustuth died a death they totally deserved, we now have a crazy axedwarf locked inside her room, trying to kill us all. I've got to praise whoever decided to lock her inside.

I have been busy working and feeding the Book of Oracle that I have not noticed much of what had transpired in the fortress, but luckily some handy dwarf stolen MrsWillsauce's journal for my perusal.

I opened the tomb back up, and went there myself to apologize to the dead as I introduce them to Olin and Ustuth. It spooked me when I remembered that I was the one who built these coffins.

[Nepeta was the one who built them, right?]

The Dead Ones weren't amused by my display of mock courtesy, however, and invaded my mind.

Or perhaps it was their way of saying thank.
I saw a vision of a magnificent world, where seas of magma stretched far like oceans, when I saw a glint of shiny metal, I turned my head, to find a glorious sight.

Or so I hope, as the haulers woke me up, as they found me lying unconscious on the tomb. my memory could only remembered a crude cyan pipe.

I must see it by myself again before I die.

[This isn't much about what happened, more like a self-portrait of Nepeta, and how she's dressed in my mind, no matter what her actual equipment is. Also those are fake horns.]

There are 11 dwarves open for redorfing.
