[I'll be running the fort now. If you guys want NotaPirate to be the one running it instead I can step off.]

[At this point the author had written in such a way that it seemed that they thought they are the book. It seemed to describe the fate of a dwarven fortress. -Professor]

1st Granite, 552, Early Spring, marks the fall of the dwarves of Inkedcarnage. Or at least it seems, yet one dwarf, NotaPirate Uzoludist, refused to believe so. She had found me. And with all my powers I have enticed her to open the tome, and then she won't remember what else happened.

I ordered her first to gather the plants, before she dies of thirst and leave me to rot here forever, and in the back of her mind I see her thinking of getting all the plants. What a foolish notion. I took over and picked a plant to brew a drink in the still. Damn it, I'm thirsty.

After making a drink for myself, I realized there are already some in the stockpile. I quickly headed there and downed them and the foods, after that I slept deeply.

[The fortress attracted no migrants this season.
I don't think this is going well...]

My bad. I'm third, but WillSauce passed the turn.

EDIT: Well fine let's reclaim. The fort is obviously not going to survive.

I request being redorfed as "Nepeta", that ought to make my name semi-normal.

I was only offering to pass my turn to NotaPirate so that he could role-play himself.

Must we reclaim? If there are no neighbors...

Anyway, can I see the Legends entry for that god my original dwarf worshipped? Sedil Friendlygladness...

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

Ah yeah I didnt see the edit. Nevermind.

If you reclaim, is there any way to check nearby civs and see if invasions are likely? I dont know how to do that...
If there are none then maybe a new gen would be better.

Update on the alternate universe:

I, Objective, came back from the dead. I was sitting watching NotaPirate farming when suddenly I appeared behind him. I nearly pissed my pants.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Well, this doomed timeline is getting better and better. I'm gonna see if I can keep NotaPirate alive before he get throttled by ghosts.
Especially MrWillsauce, he would be most dangerous.

Also more about the world:
It is currently the "Age of the Roc and the Brush Titan"
The Roc in question is Eslo Dashedzenith, the only megabeast that has ever existed in the world with eighty kills (forty-three notable). The brush titan is Lema Basincrows the Natural Nut, the great eyeless bull that breathes fire. He has six hundred twelve kills.
The world itself is tiny. The only civilizations that appear to exist are two dwarven ones and a goblin civilization, although there are several (apparently abandoned) hamlets, human fortresses, and tombs. The elves apparently never existed and the humans apparently all died off. Currently sorting out the embark supplies for the Castle of Workers.

I don't think a human and elf-less world is a good idea.

That way we won't have treehuggers to burn.

Excerpts from the journal of MrsWillsauce, armed guard of the Castles of Workers

It's been over two years since I last held my sweet wife Willsauce (she took the title "Mister" because the archaic marriage laws of the mountainhome require that marriage consist of a husband and a wife, but we were obviously able to narrowly work around that). She went off with a group of like-minded artist communists to go express herself via art in Inkedcarnage, which she helped to found. Inkedcarnage to her was an opportunity. This commune was meant to be a place free of the mountainhome's oppression and uniformity. Unfortunately for the artists, being free from the mountainhome also means being free from its law and protection. She was meant to come home in the Granite of 532, but she never did, and the letter she sent every fortnight ceased slightly before then. I investigated, and learned that the place had experienced the most torturous of catastrophes: sobriety. Whether the dwarves died of thirst, killed each other, or are still dwelling there in a deep sober madness is unkown, but I have heard tales of one who escaped the carnage (which is synonymous with the commune). This lucky-as-shit dwarf is known as "NotaPirate". What kind of fucking parents name their dwarfling that, I have no idea, but that is beside point. I never could track down that dwarf, but my guess is that she stopped off at the nearest tavern in the desolate wasteland (that was once a collection of human hamlets, but now is nothing but empty wooden structures and roaming savage outsiders) and is currently ravaging its alcohol stocks. I have spent the last year investigating Inkedcarnage and training my combat skills, for I plan to venture there and get some answers. Through my investigations, I have met a few dwarves who also had relatives involved in the Inkedcarnage crisis, and I have agreed with some to adventure with me. We take with us not only adventurer's equipment, but also seeds and tools. This is because we plan not just to figure out what happened at the fortress, but to reclaim it and establish it in its original intended image. We do this to honor those who died here; those who truly held the ideals of Inkedcarnage. I hope that some day, this place will be a haven for the outcasts oppressed dwarves where they can be free of the mountainhome's homophobia, censorship, and greed.

After over two weeks of traveling, we, the Castles of Workers, can see the mountain that houses the infamous Inkedcarnage. We should reach it within a day. With me are:

Spoiler: Brewster II (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Nepeta (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Jesus (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Aquarium (click to show/hide)

Two other dwarves: a miner named Ustuth and a woodcutter named Ducim. Both claim to be related to Inkedcarnage's earlier inhabitants, but act shyly and haven't spoken much about it. I don't even know their surnames, let alone their relationships with the founders.

The two yaks that carried our wagon (a male and a female), a breeding pair of dogs, and one female cat. I traded away our other cat and other various equipment to a trader we met along the way for my iron battleaxe. Some of the others despised this decision, but they just fail to see the value of having the strongest possible combat prowess.

I've got two dwarves in the embark crew that are available. Do you want a woodcutter or miner?
