17th Granite, 554, Early Spring

The miners have breached the caverns again. I've went down myself to seal the opening off.
When I finally reached my destination after lugging heavy rocks, I was greeted with a hairy humanoid. I would have decided to ignore it if it didn't try to punch me to submission. I whacked it in the head, and again, and again, until it stopped squirming, but another one came, and I decided to leave, telling the miners too of the Troglodyte.

Oh, have I mentioned that MrsWillsauce have been freed? By me?
She was a good friend of mine, and I believe I can calm her down if she tries something. She asked me what happened when i ran up, and I told her of the Troglodyte. I didn't know what happened, but when I went back down there is a second corpse of the cavemen.

I've told the miners to stop digging the stairs down for now and shown them by plan for a dining room. It is pretty hard to eat food without tables and all.

A while later I came to see the state of the construction.



WHAT. These guys really love their stairs. Fine then, a dining room, and a Meeting hall above it, then.

Oh dear.  Could you dorf me as "Pirate"? I'd like to be in the military or as a mechanic, so do dorf me when those positions become available.

I think we had some guy as a mechanic but I cancelled his labor and made him a herbalist. Still I'm not going into machinery unless it has been proven that our civ is actually dead.

I'm planning on drafting two of the farmers dwarves into the military, it actually would be three but Kogan is curling in his bed like a fucking wimp.
I'm still waiting for the miners to dig out the dining hall and barrack first.
Also I don't get why they are so tantalizingly slow compared to the other things going on. My single miner in my fort dug a whole lot faster.

Well I thought you were supposed to draw something at the end of turn, but okay.

you just have to do at least 1 drawing per turn, but the more the merrier its all good.

19th Slate, 554, Mid-Spring

The miners sure are taking their time digging out the Dining Hall.



We have been having some issues with troglodytes and elk birds lately. I went down to see why they are still pouring in and realized that I forgot to build the southern walls. I quickly patched them up and made an excuse that those things sneaked in earlier. MrsWillsauce gleefully agreed to get us rid of the annoyances. She is happy now. See? I told everyone I can calm her, but they won't listen. Now who's laughing? ME AND WILLSAUCE ARE!



I have also been previously led to believe that the tree were all felled, but on a walk outside I found a forest.

The dogs and cats are showing anomalous symptoms.
Also I REALLY hope that our civ isn't dead. Or else all the crafts I've churned out would be for waste.

I would say that the crafts would help by increasing the forts value, attracting goblonite. However, I don't think the world has any goblins either. I'm pretty certain the entire world is dead. If our civ has no monarch (which it doesn't) can we still become the mountainhome somehow?

The goblins have leaders, so they probably do exist.

I kind of like the idea of being the last hope for civilization in the world, so I don't think we should abandon. Besides, if we have goblins it shouldn't be too boring; they are the funnest race after all. Also I'm sure we have kobolds because I saw some friendly ones hanging around after Grizzlebridges abandoned.

E: lol I just realized how my room is covered in engravings to cheer me up, while everyone else has rough stone rooms.

As of recent Kogan's room is now partially smoothed on my attempt to engrave all the bedrooms. Also cancelling all the engraving orders on the stairs down hurts my wrist.

The engravers are now working on the Dining Hall, which would probably take forever.
I'm also going to start building traps, but seeing that our population won't grow in a hurry I doubt we'd have any problems with goblins soon before we could get enough specialist dwarves.

9th Hematite, 554, Early Summer

On one of these days I find myself usually lost in thought while working at my mason workshop, and usually praying to Ekast and Sedil in my break. While no one had dared to step out to scout, it has now been common knowledge that the mountainhomes we had departed from earlier is in ruins, or worse, and we are their last hope. On the bright side, I believe the goblins will not find us a threat for a very long, long time. I pray to the gods our fortress will not meet our end by the wilderness.

On topic about wilderness, the fortress was harassed constantly by the subterranean creature. MrsWillsauce had decided to just stand guard below, and warns me that if this happens again she'll expose my incompetence.

I apologized and hurried off to add more walls, but really, it's quite hard when you're working in a nauseous and windy cave.



I hope this will be the last wall needed to seal the cavern off completely. There are countless bloody gibs in the stairway and on parts of the fortress where MrsWillsauce killed the elk birds, and it's quite messy. It shall be cleaned soon.



Since there isn't much to do, I'm planning a puppywurst party in our not-quite-finished dining room.

since MrsWillsauce haven't made an effective trap corridor yet, I drafted up the plan for an alternate passage which we will open up for the goblins.



On another note that lazy ass Kogan had finally did something useful for once, and we now have a new member to our fortress.



[Before I create a new one, is there already a lever for the drawbridge?]
