I'll take the miner. Don't change the default name, just make the profession name "Finder of Lost Goods".

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

I'll take a dwarf named Lightninghawk, member of the militia or hunter.

Welp...  didn't think the fort would die due to a lack of a well...  Kinda sad how the fort died off fairly quickly...  (Not as quickly as two yak skeletons to the initial seven that one time, but still thought this was a fast fall.)  As for redorf, NESgamer191.  Perhaps back at the old fortress, I was being prophetic regarding the coffin carving in saying "We're gonna need coffins."

1st of Granite, 553
As the wagon pulls us steadily across the mountain, I spot several dwarven bodies, partially preserved in the snow. About half of them seem to have died gradually from dehydration, but quite a few bear hole-shaped wounds, such as what a pickaxe would make. I shudder: MrWillsauce was a miner. I try to shake my head of the horrible idea, but it keeps returning. Finally, I see her. Lying dead in the snow with her head split open, with a bloody pickaxe in her hand. Her corpse is covered in dried blood, and the evil look on her dead face disturbs me greatly. I hop off the wag and stand over the partial skeleton, staring for about an hour. Tears appear on my face and instantly freeze. Finally, I kick some snow over her corpse and jog after the wagon. Our first order of business will be to, along with setting up booze and food production, memorialize the dead. I order Aquarium and Ustuth to begin mining the rich gold veins that protrude from the mountain. Despite the morbid feeling this place gives me, it is ripe with delicious metal. I am excited for what the future holds.

2nd of Granite, 553
Only a day here and I've already got my first kill. A kobold thief was lurking near the peak of the mountain, watching us. When I confronted him he claimed to be friendly, but I've learned never to trust a kobold. I caved his skull in with the pommel of my axe. I've ordered Nepeta to build a rock table and chair so that we can start taking stock of what was left for us.

6th of Granite, 553
On closer inspection, the "gold" that I had the miners dig out was actually limonite. Damn it! I've ordered them to mine hematite instead and set up some furnaces to make charcoal and smelt some iron. Nepeta will be our temporary metalsmith.

13th of Granitee, 553
My military services aren't currently needed, so I've taken it upon myself to become the group's bookkeeper. I think I've recorded every single object in this fortress. Turns out, those guys before us made a ton of rock crafts and cut gems, so we should have plenty to trade to the dwarven caravan without having to make anything ourselves. Maybe if those fools spent less time making earrings and spent more time brewing booze, they wouldn't have died the way they did.

23rd of Granite, 553
With plenty of hematite mined and meager facilities already dug out, I've ordered my miners to improve the fortress's entrance. Meanwhile, Nepeta works diligently to burn wood for charcoal. Soon we will have some impressive iron sarcophagi for those poor dead dwarves (I would make them steel, but I want to rid us of these ghosts as quickly as possible). Luckily, it looks like the previous overseer here already dug out a tomb, so we can just use that.

2nd of Slate, 553
A horrible accident took place during the construction of the new grand entrance. Aquarium fell several Urists and was crushed by a mound of gabbro. She has two broken legs and is unconscious. She is too weak for alcohol and the brook is still frozen solid despite it being mid-spring. Hopefully she can hold out until Summer. Needless to say, I've halted construction of the grand entrance, but I have drawn a picture of it so that myself or future overseers will know remember my vision.

MrWillsauce was by far the better artist.

11th of Felsite, 553
Aquarium is treated to and given water from the brook (which thawed in time, praise Sedil Friendlygladness). She is still resting, but we all expect her to get back to work soon. I've requested Jesus to fashion two splints and two crutches for her when she wakes up (none of us are skilled in the realm of medicine, so hopefully one of those will work). Meanwhile, I've changed my mind and told Nepeta to stop iron forging and to just make stone coffins, but I did tell her to smelt the iron bars that were already made into steel. I want the dead in the ground as soon as possible: some creepy shit has been happening around the fort. Everybody seems unneverved and everybody has haunted looks on their faces. I even think I see things from time to time... my Willsauce... calling for me...

15th of Hematite, 553
About half of the bodies of the previous residents are in stone coffins, but I have yet to entomb MrWillsauce. I just don't know if I can bring myself to...

17th of Hematite, 553
Ustuth has taken it upon herself to mine the hematite that protrudes from the walls of the mountain halls. I've told her to try expanding the central staircase farther down, in hopes that we can find some magma to smelt iron and steel less expensively. For some reason, she has taken to calling herself "the finder of lost goods" and corrects me whenever I call her "miner". I have no idea what's up with her, but then again this fortress was originally intended to be a haven for odd dwarven outcasts. I'm just hoping the "lost goods" she's referring to are more veins of hematite.

23rd of Hematite, 553
Aquarium is extremely pale, and I don't think she's eaten for weeks. Food stores are dwindling and that dunce Brewster is taking forever to farm more plump helmets. This is probably because I opted to re-purpose the old residents' farms, which are placed extremely far away from our wagon, its seeds, and all other populated areas of the fortress.

27th of Hematite, 553
Moods are grim here in Inkedcarnage as Aquarium has died today, apparently of starvation. Everyone passes the blame to someone else, but I blame myself for this catastrophe. For one, it was my vision she was trying to realize when she got injured. And then, I did not feed her even when I saw her whispering for food in her sleep. I just finished dragging her body to an open coffin in the tomb for the founders. The bodies are almost all buried, but I have yet to bury Willsauce.

10th of Malachite, 553
Ustuth has just informed the rest of us that he struck an expansive series of caverns while digging the central staircase. I told Nepeta to bring some rocks to build a wall, and I'm just about to go down there with my axe to make sure nothing gets in to the fort from below.

from The Journal of Brewster: It's such a nice long walk from the fields to our seed storage, it's keeping me nice and fit! The barrel does rub some, but it's for art! People will realize I'm a true Brew Master if I literally dress like alcohol.
