You can keep finding fossils at an Exhausted dig site, so dig teams are guaranteed moneymakers.  This is especially cool if you unlock any five-star dino zone, as you can stuff your diggers into those zones and find plenty of fantastic bones.  You extract all to 100% and then the excess gets sold for mad profit.

Retire is nice and all, but not strictly needed at all, and definitely not in the early game.  You'd be shooting profits!  Go for umbrellas, gyro stabilizer, and then spam out all the diseases you can and egg-vacines.  That'll just cover all the "shit we should have prepared for" and leave the rest of the game open to sandbox bloodshed.

Also, do a lot of simple exhibits and cheap food.  It gets the park rating higher, which encourages more guests and more dig zones, and then once you're "settled" you can start jackassing around.  You seem to start in one of three ways - Cretaceous with Judith Creek A, or Cretaceous with Hell River A, both of which give you 50~70% on pachy and albert, which are low-rank herbs and carns respectively.  OR, you start in Jurassic at Morrison Formation A and dry and sera, which are herbs and carns.  If you've got dryosauruses then you get the Jurassic start.  If you unlock Morrison Formation B you can get some large 5-star herbivores, which will provide a good base-line income as well as feed your later carnivores.  The bronchiosaurus is available from Morrison Formation B, which is a solid 40 foot tall.

Unfortunately the Jurassic has poor predators, with only two small carnivores, both of which prey off the pony-sized dryosaurus, providing for less than impressive hunting scenes.  However, The Flaming Cliffs can provide you with velociraptors, which hunt in packs to take down large prey.  Even if they're Cretaceous, it should be great fun watching raptors take down a bronch.  And you can supplement your Cretaceous bits with Judith Creek B, which gives the Tyrannosaurus for traditional badassery.  You can further fortify the Tyrannosaurus with Hell River A and B, to get two large herbivores, which are the prey of T-Rex and the friend of the prey, for synergy.

Altogether, I like Hell River A, Hell River B, The Flaming Cliffs, Judith Creek B, Morrison Formation A, and Morison Formation B.  That gives you some big species and some fun small species, and that's 6 places, so 5 unlocks and 1 starting.

No love for Dilophosaurus?

:(

So much fun watching someone die after they cover them in toxic goo.

Also, I hate raptors. Too god damn prone to slip the fence when a lightining storm happens.

Dilo are available from Morrison Formation B, so they're in there as well.  Unfortunately they don't appear to be too terrific in stats.  Small size, 2 star, and feed off dry.  The acid spray makes them remarkable, but nothing else does.

That said...  "Acid Spray".

What we need to do is find a cost-effective way for our guests to watch OTHER guests be brutally slaughtered by dinosaurs, in a safe and enclosed environment.

Dinosaur.. Tycoon?
This looks more like Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis.
And what the fudge are you doing with the weird pathing you set up?
Preparing for a fountain? (Actually, that's not a bad idea..)
Also, all theese suggestions are just plainly weird..

We will never get a profitable park like this.

I suggest research ATM machines, tourists will stay around longer.
Also consider researching vaccines, as the dinos WILL have dieseases sooner or later.
Nothing is worse than a large predator with rabies. (Rabid raptors are nasty as well.)

Edit: Yes, I obviously played this game before.  :P
So Sell all the ember you find, I usually do that as they tend to give a nice little profit.
Also.. Even if a site is exhausted, there is still a small chance of finding something.
So stay around in a site until you get 100% of a dinosaur's genome.

edit2: Theese are just some suggestions and advice of mine, you just do what you think is best.

edit3: That INGEN boardmember can show up at the worst times.
So even if a tornado swept by and no tourists or dinos got hurt, the board CAN and WILL berathe you.

Is this the Dinosaur Tycoon where guests hate or love it when one animal eats another?
There's four types of guests.
Mainstream just wanna see something scaly.
Fun Lovers want to watch herbivores rolling around.
Thrill Seekers want to watch carnivores .
Dino Nerds want things that are era-specific and region-specific.

Thrill Seekers like it when one dino eats another, or the off-chance that a herbivore kills a carnivore, probably.
Fun Lovers like it when there's more than one species of herbivore in an area, such as if you get the "preferred friend" of a dinosaur in the same enclosure.
Dino Nerds like things from N. America to be in the same enclosure as others from N. America, and things from Jurassic to be with Jurassic, and they get a boost from the "preferred friend" and "preferred prey" relationship as well.

As always, higher star dinos give more attraction.  Dryosaurus is a tiny thing, maybe the size of a very large dog or very small pony, they're actually a little difficult to find unless they run around, which they do quite often.  10 of them will give virtually no attraction, except just enough to let you open shop.  Bronchiosaurus, which is like 50 feet tall with half its height in its neck, will have guests flocking to your park with just 1 in a cage.  If you find the Bronch's preferred friend, which is another similarly-shaped dino that I can't remember right now, and put them both in a cage, then the fun lovers and the dino nerds enjoy it.

Sorry about the delay.
Any suggestions on our first enclosure?
In about 5 hours, I'll start on the update.

Make it big enough to support 1 dino specie, later expand it to support at least 3 species.

Make an enclosure for your dry's, they're basic cheap income, but first hatch a few carnivores and sedate and relocate them to another cage - saves you $6k for another hatchery!  Make the carnivore cage adjacent, so that you can later take down the barrier between them and ship more to pure carnivore showcase.  This can be done as far as you see fit too, another adjacent cage can hold large herbivores that would then be let into the main enclosure.

Alrighty then.
Now, let's see what research my dice chose.

Aaaand...
I suggest research ATM machines, tourists will stay around longer.
It chose this one. So be it!

So, let's jump back on.
Building a small enclosure for 1 species?

(Note: I forgot to put in water, but I didn't notice until I ended this screenshot session. I did put water in after I noticed it, though!)
That looks good, right?
I've also expanded the central area so visitors can view the Dryosaurs.

And here's the dino's enclosure.

Aaand the map.

Over the course of building, our fossil teams have found some more Dryo remains and also complained about how hard it is for one team.
They recommend we hire some more guys. I didn't, at the moment, but I probably will.

So, let's get a few Dryos.

After a few moments, here's our first little dino!

D'aww

Also, it seems the ATMs were done being research, so another die roll to see what're researching this time...
Go for umbrellas
That one, it is. I'll continue along this suggested path until something comes up(a dino getting sick) or more people decide on something else.

Anyway, since we have an attraction, now, let's open the park and start making money.

Here comes our first guests!

And there they are, kinda fusing with each other.
There's four of them, so we made $800 from admissions. They appear to be a man and a set of triplets.
2 of them are fun-loving and 2 are dino nerds. They haven't got much of an opinion just yet.

Let's just take a look at our summaries.

Oh, shit, I forgot the fucking ranger station. Hm... where's a good place for it?

I intended to place it on top of the mountain, but after having to flatten a small area, the station decided to just mostly tear down the mountain... hm. Well, we got our ra-

Oh, hey, INGEN has sent their quarterly report. Let's check that out.

FUCK YOU, I just built that fucking ranger station! And what are 4 dryosaurus going to do? Run around menacingly?

Well, I've decided to just play until the quarterly reports, so that's the end of this session.

Let's check out reports.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

A couple of things, now.
What should our food place be selling?
It can have Sandwiches($5), Dino Dogs($10), or Rex Burgers($15) with the side dishes of nothing, Thrillin' Chilli, Fun Fries, and Paleo Salad.

And so far, our fossil finders have been finding only Dryo remains.

(Ninja'd mid-update!)
