Eww.

With that out of the way, did you now that cats can do head bump? Meow.

Toady mentioned in a fortress talk that somebody modded the game so that every time a cat head-bumps, its target turns into a cat.
Catsplosion^n

I have to do this now.

What is the ink like, just a fluid which sticks to surfaces, like blood?

Correct.

Tested Gigantic Squid (a vanilla creature) in the arena. It can squirt ink.

Quote
You squirt ink.
You are no longer in hiding.
You can't sneak because somebody can see you.

The MATERIAL_EMISSION_WITH_HIDE_EFFECT causes the squid to enter stealth mode even if creatures are watching it. It's kind of a "Hide in Plain Sight" move.

By default the interaction only works underwater, but:

Code: (interaction_standard.txt) [Select]

[INTERACTION:MATERIAL_EMISSION_WITH_HIDE_EFFECT]
[I_SOURCE:CREATURE_ACTION]
[I_TARGET:A:MATERIAL]
[IT_MATERIAL:CONTEXT_MATERIAL]
[I_TARGET:B:LOCATION]
[IT_LOCATION:CONTEXT_LOCATION]
[I_TARGET:C:LOCATION]
[IT_LOCATION:CONTEXT_LOCATION]
[I_TARGET:D:CREATURE]
[IT_LOCATION:CONTEXT_CREATURE]
[I_EFFECT:MATERIAL_EMISSION]
[IE_TARGET:A]
[IE_TARGET:B]
[IE_TARGET:C]
[IE_IMMEDIATE]
[I_EFFECT:HIDE]
[IE_TARGET:D]
[IE_IMMEDIATE]
[IE_LOCATION:IN_WATER]

go to interaction_standard.txt and delete the [IE_LOCATION:IN_WATER] line, and your flying squid will be able to disappear in a cloud of smoke in midair.

Weaponization would be to make some kind of "Shadowdancer" creature that repeatedly hides and sneak attacks.

You can mod out the material emission if you only want creatures to simply disappear.

I love interactions.

Just wanted to put that out there.

Love 'em.

Make it immobile, and a giant plump helmet. When it attacks, it infects its victims before becoming invisible again.

The victim then runs away stunned and scared, only to turn into yet another plump helmet. And the cycle continues again, with people running into invisible mushrooms - and ultimately, their doom.

So if I get squid ink to contaminate a room with 2/7 water I can station my marksdwarves in it so they become hidden?

No. The inking only hides the one generating the ink. Which is the squid.

So that means smoke bomb is possible right now with modding.

So that means smoke bomb is possible right now with modding.

To an extent, I.E. the creature in question would either have to A) Always be able to drop a smoke bomb, and only at set intervals or times, or B) Consume a food that gives them epic abilities to smoke bomb.

If requests are made, I would add this aspect to my mod, as the groundwork is already there to transform normal dwarves into other castes of dwarves with different bonuses (Flamethrower, Generator, and [Magma] Diving dwarves exist currently) Adding another would be no problem.

The elves are already ninjas.

We must make pirate dwarves.

They are in the making now as a new civilization.
