And all versions after that in alpha and above :)

Dunno if something is backwards here or not, but Betas come between Alphas and Release, not before.

I meant like you also get all updates after the alpha is released :)

Seems to be coming along nicely. Some bigger updates in the past week.

Well, the first public release is done and I have spent about an hour with it. I don't know how I feel about it to be honest. I still have to learn the mechanics and controls. I also suspect something must be wrong with my settings since it appears to be running very slow in my very decent rig.

Huh. Surprised I hadn't heard about this before now. I'll have to check it out.

I played a bit last night. I like the game but the interface needs more work... it's a bit clumsy and inconsistent. There are no mouseovers or tooltips. Documentation seems to be a bit lacking (most things you can't figure out inside the game) and the community Wiki is still sparse. You have to read through the Beta patch notes to figure out details like how to get migrants to arrive or how to herd animals.

Still, the patch notes are pretty good and the forum is very active, so if you're willing to invest the time finding the documentation yourself it looks like the underlying game is well worth it.

How many of these games actually make it out of alpha... 0.0000002%?

Isn't this game out of alpha technically?

OK, I have to reload the save.
There was a bit of a problem regarding flashfreezing, a ballistae, and a barrel of dwarven ale. Gonna fix it up.

If it's not a fully fleshed release, ready to buy, version 1.0 game then it's still in alpha.

is there a way to unmark dig/mining designations?

decided to dig like 2 planes of dirt blocks to level out the little hill at the "camp area" and to build some sort of walls there... but after figuring out how to actually getting the people to do something (by equipping tools to them directly) the miner broke the pick and after making 2 more stone picks (that broke too :D) i ran out of stone as i just dug dirt.... so... ya... couldnt make more picks anymore and couldnt find out how to undesignate the marked dirt so i could quickly mark a bit of stone to make new tools etcetc...
i.e. with trees it works to unmark them with the rightclick menu.

If you hold Shift+Alt while setting designations that clears the specific designation.

This is the kind of thing I meant when I said in-game documentation is lacking.

Well I have, played it for a few hours, and it's fun but difficult. On the second day for me goblins set up a camp on the edge of my area.

P.S I will be doing a let's play and a quick rundown on the controls so you can dig deeper! If your interested I'll do it.
