My addiction to the PC.
« on: October 06, 2012, 07:27:21 pm »

As the title states, I have an addiction to the PC. I don't get outside much, I don't excerise and I despise physical activities. I also, relateing to the PC, have an addiction to roleplaying, which I don't really label as unhealthy. At least until I start RPing all day and night, then it gets unhealthy. So, I like any rational and right minded human being would do, bring my problem of addiction, to the internet.

Well, I don't want to diagnose, but are you having any trouble in any facet of your life? A lot of people use the computer, and video games, as a form of escapism.

Internet addiction is a valid and sorta common behavioral addiction, but have you been diagnosed with it by a health professional? 'Cause if not... self diagnosis is a no-no. You might not be addicted at all, and are just using it to cope with something else, as MZ said. Only a doctor could tell you if you're really addicted.

Quote from: Chesterton
For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

I guess the biggest problem is if you start neglecting duties to be on the internet, like missing school or work.

Nothing is wrong with my life. I guess the only reason I don't do stuff is because there is nothing to do here.

I know what that's like. :-\
What is the area you're in like? Is there anywhere to go walking? Try it, walking a short distance at first, then further. Think about the characters/scenarios you roleplay about, mull them over in your mind as you go.
It's both healthy, incredibly relaxing, and it always helped me think. :)

Well I suppose the problem has been solved. There isnt really much here, other than the movie theatre. And I hate going to the movies, mainly because of the fact of people being there. Other than that, nothing is here anyway I will try to walk around. Good day.

I know the feeling. There isn't much to do at my town either, what with the bowling alley recently sold out to a car-selling company.  >:(
The only interesting thing close to my house is a cemetery.

I'm in the same boat. More recently I've started doing -some- more amounts of physical activity but most of my days are spent with a screen.

You have three options really.
. Find a girlfriend who likes being with you a lot (not stalker level of course)
. Keep on keeping on, with your addiction-that-isn't-actually-an-addiction
. Move to a new place.

The first two are suggestions by personal experience.

Alright you two. Attempt to murder each other. Last one standing gets to participate in the next test.
