Things were quiet in Limulid. Pleasingly so. They had food and drink a plenty, spare beds if they needed them, spare clothes and such. Life was good in fact, even if they had little free time in light of the clean-up and work needing to be done around the stockade. Slade said he saw a troll when he want to look into the caverns (“And it can stay there. Let the fish men deal with it.” was the general consensus regarding that,) and an age old foe had returned, the giant flying squirrels. Everyone was leery of them, and hoped they'd be the next victims of the logwalk's traps. Which, sure enough, they did. Two were torn to shreds on the various salvaged weapons, and Mantis promptly butchered them. Squid was becoming a remarkably quick tanner, and once the hobgoblins had finally taken their leave proper, work sped up significantly because they weren't tripping over the hobgoblins' animals and feet. They also freed two sparrow folk who'd been languishing in cages they had accidentally wandered into, who had been subsisting off scraps given to them by Targe and Squid. They seemed to nod in thanks before they flew off over the hill. Not long after, several cave crab hatchlings were born, expanding their mass of angry war beasts. And of course, as spring crept along, no sign of migrants. It was getting to be a major hurdle. So much had to be done, so much needed to be stored, and they hadn't the time or hands to get it all done. A giant grasshopper also found itself snared in a trap as slate wound to a close. As Felsite rolled along, the yearly Salmon migration was seen heading upriver and Anvil set to work on them in the gaps between cleaning up skeletons and gear, not that they needed the food. The Ant den was also half finished, though it'd need some touching up before the first brood and the queen could be moved in to begin the disposal of prisoners.
[Ok folks, sorry about that. We're now in late spring of the year 10, and Open Office was rather uncooperative and I couldn't even finish the above in it and just typed the last sentence and a half here on the forum. There'd be more meat to the update, but no attacks coupled with literally just clean up to be done at this point in preparation for spending most of summer cleaning up the inevitable ambushes from this season's trade time is all to be done until some dorfs finally decide to fucking show up.]
