[The following takes place into the attack by the xelics]
“Come at me bug!” The hammerelf Mina said defiantly as he and a macebug stared eachother down. Two others had tumbled down the hill avoiding the mithril arrows of one of the other guards, and we qickly being set upon by another hammerelf, Gina and an axeelf named Lapama. The macebug banged his shields together as a show of accepting the challenge and charged, opening his guard to swing his morningstar but was quickly caught by the head of Mina's raven's beak maul and found his leg pulled from under himself. Mina brought down a mighty overhead strike, but it was blocked by the sheer number of shields the macebug bore and was kicked hard in the midsection sending him staggering back. The macebug quickly stood and charged, raising his morning star to hit the stunned elf in the head, but found a arrow sticking from his forearm instead. “AAAUGH!!” The xelic screeched, dropping his mace. Mina charged, smashing bodily into the bugman, who was now sandwiched between himself and Mina while Lapama rushed by at the next macebug. The one facing the two hammerelves didn' last, as Mina shoved the xelic back into Gina, who put it in a headlock with his raven's beak. Mina swung;eft, cracking chitin, swung back, splitting it, and then spun the hammer around and smashed the spike on the back into the fracture and ripped the xelic's brain. More of the caravan came trundling through, four xelics already having turned and run after the hammerbug had been shot in the leg and went down. “Lapama, you ok?” Gina asked, throwing aside the dead xelic. They turned and saw him yanking his hatchet out of the macebug's head. “Still a hammerbug up here! Get on him!” Their archer called. She'd already loosed most of her ammo trying to hit the damned bug and only managed to peg the same leg three times out of almost 20 shots. [She rapid fired that shit.] The bug simply refused to die however, blocking each shot or rolling away as now two hammers came down upon him. However it was Lapama and his hatchet that felled the raider, who tackled the xelic and threw chop after chop at the hammerbug's body until something gave out, which was its abdomen being severed.
Down below, Slade ran across a snatcher, and set to eliminate the threat to their children. He charged at the snatcher, the foul insectoid swinging a dagger desperately in self-defense only for Slade to send his pick through and kick the bug in the body, leaving his dagger hand with the dwarf, who plucked it from his pick head and flung it back to the owner. Slade rushed forward again and dove at the xelic, slamming into its chest and rolling over him and to his feet, planting his pick firmly in the xelic's bulbous abdomen, twisting around the stunned and confused kidnapped and with all the might his stout legs would permit, pushed off against the xelic, tumbling onto his back as he ripped away the entire section of the bug, leaving it motionless, likely from shock and so much hemolymph being lost in one shot. It wasn't long however that they realized the elves had turned around. Mantis was sent to find out why, and found noth but dead xelics... And a wrecked wagon, it's axel broken and the whole vehicle toppled, its contents spilled across the ground.
“Where are the elves? They should have pulled in by now.” Feral asked the butcher. “Gone. There was an accident on the hill. From the looks of things, none of their own were hurt, but I found a wrecked wagon up there.” She reported. “Typical caravaneer behavior. One Wagon gets ganked and the whole caravan turns tail and leaves. Not good business sense if you ask me.” Corai interjected. “Look at what happened with the home caravan. One wagon broke down and we haven't seen them since.” Feral said sadly. “great, so no more imports from the elves we actually like then?” Mantis asked with a touch of ire in her tone. “They should be back. After all, it looked like a good sized caravan. They know we're a profitable stoping point, but the accident spooked them is all.” Corai said, waving a dismissive hand at the notion of ceased high elven caravans. The sudden sound of gears ripping to life and a xelic shouting “Oh godsdamn it!” betrayed another snatcher, and a horrific death shriek betrayed another. After all was said and done it took the better part of a week to gather the remains fo the caravans and the xelic raiders. Elves were soon spotted just down their road when their peregrine came flying by calling its warnings: More xelic bandits. However the traps at the log bridge's chokepoint sprang to life as the xelics charged across, one being sliced cleanly in half by a great axe that had been loaded in the trap and another left unconscious and draped over the log missing one pair of arms. The falcon began flying around the bugs, likely out of curiosity but also because it was frightened. In the stockade, Coral hard ran afoul of a zephyr, who in turn ran afoul of Slade who was in the was of it's escape route. He quickly removed both of it's legs before delivering a fatal blow to it's heart, leaving it in a bloody mess in the door. As the merchants pulled in and the xelics trided to force their way across again, Targe shouted “IT'S DONE! IT'S FINALLY DONE!! HAHAHAHAAAA!!!”
This is Alilost, Gleefulfolded, a Cedar weapon rack. All Craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is decorated with chevrons of cedar and studed with microcline oval cabochons. Hanging rings of chicken bone run down the sides, and on the backing is an image of a gizzard stone in microcline flanked by crescent moons in sheep's wool.
Skull meanwhile observed the xelics rush onto the log crossing, the leader rushing forward and....
Taking a a giant metal ball to the chest that flung out of the ground on a chain. The hammerbug was knocked backwards onto the log, and at the sight of ichor spurting from his throax, his subordinates broke ranks and fled. Skull, being an opprotunist, and since they needed to see if they needed to fish anything out of the river, drew his incindium blade and rushed out. The xelic had blacked out for an instant and came to to a dwarf rushing at him, he shakily stood, only to be stabbed in the arm and lose grip of his hammer. He swung one of his three shields, but Skull blocked it and struck back, putting a large gash in his chitin. Skull surged forward and slammed his shield into the bug's chest, sending him to the ground in a clattering heap of insectoid and shields. Skull recovered and delivered a punishing kick to the xelic's head, leaving him stunned and with his guard wide open, where Skull brought his shortsword down and clove the xelix in half at the abdomen. By the time he got back he saw the swollen form of a giant ant queen being taken to a nest box. “What's the deal with the ant monster?” He asked targe who was leading it, still with a happy look about him from the artifact. “We leave'er be and these bad boys will be the best cannon fodder imaginable.”

“What the FUCK IS THAT.” Splint said in shock at the cage on wheels being towed by two beetles. “You like dwarf? Caught her a month ago wandering around near a cave.” Splint just seemed to seize up. Suddenly he drew a chisel that he used to carve things in armor. “Unhitch it.” He said, brandishing the sharp chisel menacingly. “Unhitch it and leave. NOW.” He said, his voice icy with intent to kill them all if they didn't comply. “Alright... Alright man, take it easy... Everyone pack it in, we're going to leave the dwarf with his weird little beetle fetish..” After the elves had gone Splint was found staring up at the colossal beetle he had taken from the elves. “One more...” He mumbled under his breath. “Just one more...”
