Missions from the Mother Mountain(goal based DF story game)
« on: October 04, 2012, 07:39:33 pm »

The tunnels wind deep below the royal keep. Dark, cramped spaces occasionally dripping with warm, tepid water from half completed stone supports. The scowl on the giant cave spider-silk clad female dwarf's face barely fits in the tiny passage as she trudges into the dark following the servant with a sooty torch leading the way. "This way your highness." The thin servant dwarf in trim cut black giant bat leather turned into a side passage and reveals a cavern only about twice the size of the tunnels themselves.

The torch light reflects oddly off metallic cages built into one wall. Inside the cages strange luminescent versions Fluffy Wamblers idly gnaw on tiny bowls of plump helmets. In front of each cage hangs a small trough filled with simple looking blue-grey rounded pebbles, and hidden in the corner of the cavern, looking like an dusty limestone statue, is a dwarf that looks as old at the mountainhome itself.

Kicking the 'statue' with his boot the servant wakes the old codger, "Wake up you lout, The Queen is here!"

"Uh wut? Queen?" The old dwarf opens one eye about halfway and snorts once before climbing to his feet. "Wulcome to the bottom o the world yer majiesty." Shaking off a layer of dust the old dwarf makes a shambling bow and gestures to the cages. "My family and I be ready to serve."

Queen Urst, the forty-eighth queen mother of the dwarven race says nothing, her eyes scan the room and finally come to a stop on the strange creatures in the cages. "So these are the transmitters?"

The old caretaker coughs lightly puffing a cloud of some sort from ancient lungs before responding. "Aye, that be what they are. Sum sort of enchantment on the species makes em linked through the receiver stones. All ye need to do is speak loudly and clearly and anyone holding one o the stones can receive a vision of ye saying just that." The old dwarf picked up a small stone and coughed again, then addressed the caged creatures. "Listen up you lot. Merry Ale Day!" He tapped the stone once with his claw-like fingernail and then offered the stone to the queen.

Holding the stone in her hand the scowl finally drops from the royal dwarf's face. A vision of the old dwarf saying 'Merry Ale Day!' pops into her head each time she runs a finger over the stone. "Excellent. Let us record our first orders then, and prepare to send the stones out to the fortresses."

The servant dwarf bowed sharply, "As you wish your Majesty..."

The research assistant couldn't experiment with plants because he hadn't botany
Don't expect a bonsai tree to grow the miniature planting it.
Trust your calculator. It's something to count on.
Pencils could be made with erasers at both ends, but what would be the point?

Vucar was a "Listener" for the group titled 'The Dagger of Gems'; she is intrusted by the queen to carry the magical receiver stone. She held the reigns of the wagon, as it finally came to a creeping halt. "Welcome to Luckycrafts" was written on the sign being hauled in the back of the wagon. The seven dwarfs have arrived and the first order has been given out "Create a warehouse!"
